Not long after the start of Macworld 2009, Apple officially unveiled the new MacBook Pro, that was confirmed by AppleInsider on Monday. During the demonstration Apple uncovered that the 17-inch display of the unibody MacBook Pro will feature LED backlight, 1920x1200 fullHD resolution, 700:1 contrast ratio and will come with gloss or mate surface (the mate option will cost additional $50). The remaining specs pretty much match the specs of the older 15-inch MacBook Pro model. Apple also said that the addition of non-removable battery will lead to bigger battery installed and longer battery life, which is now claimed to be up to 8 hours.

I wonder if Jobs nearly splooge himself talking about them again (I have never heard anyone refer to computers as beautiful so many times as the latest macbooks, I'd wage he has a full-size poster at home...). Yay for those who can drop $2000+ on a personal computer, or who want to, now I'd like to see the mainstream one (aka, less than $1000).
Uhm, you been living under a rock? He wasn't there...
And it starts at nearly $3,000...
Add a few upgrades and it's getting really expensive...

Yes I have actually I find the shade quite cozy. He was at the last one, probably the only expo of theirs I will watch (unless I end up working for them, in which case I will be assimilated). I can believe it starts at $3000, if he builds it, they will come.
For some reason the non removable battery bit is really pecking away at me
by: malwareBwahahaha! Apple keeps on getting more and more crappy.

I still don't like that black thing around the monitor...

try one.... you might like it. Takes some time getting used to but it works great for me.
I might try one if it costs the same like Windows Laptop that have same hardwares. Until that time, no MAC.
yes, that is my only gripe w/ mac right now. I use it just for one program. I hate how proprietary everything is. I remember when the 8800gt's came out for it. It was around $350 for it IIRC. It still goes for $280 now.

You do mean that your gripe is with Apple, right? I mean you wouldn't say that you had a gripe with Focus if your new Ford was having problems, right? You could always buy the PC 8800gt and flash it. Its expensive because Nvidia has to pay their employees to write the Bios/Drivers for a niche market. Cost goes down with scale. Very little hardware on a Mac these days is "proprietary" anymore.
I say give it 6 months before there is a third party replacement battery for the new MacBook Pro. Remember when the iPod had a "non replaceable battery"? Now there are a million replacements for all different generations and models. There is also a Matte screen option available for an extra $50.
Every time I see a Apple related headline here I count on half the comments to be from haters.
yes I meant apple. But didn't the 8800gt's have a special adapter w/ it? I know you could purchase the adapter separately.
edit: NVM can't find it. Maybe I'm getting confused w/ the term upgrade kit. Thought I read awhile ago about first gen mac pro's not being able to use it w/out an adapter of some sort
I use the term proprietary loosely. I hate knowing that I have to buy a mac to use Logic pro

Why do I need do those things? :wtf:
It's alot simpler with Windows/PC :nutkick:.
I'm not a Mac hater, but I'm sure you are a Mac lover.
