A certain enthusiast by the name (or alias) Mo Lan at Expreview.com has come up with a custom unified chipset water-block for the ASUS Rampage II Extreme motherboard. The block draws inspiration from the industrial design of the board, and features an etched, see-through ROG logo. The block uses a full-coverage design, that covers the X58 northbridge and ICH10R southbridge, while also cooling a small portion of the board's VRM under the memory slots (perhaps the vDIMM) along the way. Expreview plans to thoroughly evaluate this water-block soon.

Update (05/19): One of our readers has pointed out that the cooler design is based on the Koolance MB-ASR2E coupled with Koolance MB-ASR2E DRAM attachment, with a custom top designed by the enthusiast.

It's custom. Don't know if it is a mass-product. Looks patent-worthy.

i haven't gone or looked at an i7 rig really so idk but are there waterblocks out yet for x58? i mean shit if i had come out with the first one or even a heatsink that looked quite nice and effective i'd have a patent on it before i published it.

EVGA for one, sells a block for its X58 3X-SLI board. Foxconn bundles a modular block with BloodRage, and Gigabyte EX58-Extreme and MSI X58 Eclipse-Plus feature factory-fitted water-blocks.

that's one hell of a craftsman to be able to put that together. It looks great.

its by koolance, and yes its mass produced.

the guy made a custom top for it, and its not difficult.

But the block is by koolance with the DRAM cooler option.

so it looks like this:

If he is trying to sell it off as his own brand, that is so not cool expecially since im friends with people who work at koolance.

its VERY easy to custom that steel top.

This should give you an idea..

All he did was change that steel top and nickle plate it. The block was NOT DESIGNED by him. And credit should be given to Koolance.

The way Expreview phrased its English news post (especially the part where they built hype around a "review in the works") totally came across to me as if the cooler was an indigenous design by him

Koolance makes great blocks now.

The block you see is a 2 part block. The main nb/sb full board block + the DRAM Cooler.

The performance is all dependant on how you use the blocks. Sure if your water system is already tax'd and you put more heat, then you wont get better temps then air.

However if your system can support the extra load and you can afford the price tag, then its in your best interest to fullboard block it.

My classified has a fullboard block on it right now, and so does my P6T-Dlx.

Well the P6T-Dlx i have would have real customized blocks.
