NVIDIA today launched the third and final high-end GPU in its GeForce RTX 40-series SUPER refresh. The new GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER is being launched at an attractive $999 price, compared to the $1,199 that the RTX 4080 originally launched at. Besides this huge 20% cut in pricing, there's also more performance on offer, as the company chose to max out the 5 nm AD103 silicon that it's based on. If you recall, the RTX 4080 has 76 out of 80 streaming multiprocessors of the AD103 enabled, and its memory runs at an odd 22.4 Gbps speed. The RTX 4080 SUPER gets all 80 SM, and a well rounded 23 Gbps memory speed.

With 80 SM on tap, you get 10,240 CUDA cores, 320 Tensor cores, 80 RT cores, 320 TMUs, and 112 ROPs. The memory size is unchanged at 16 GB, across the 256-bit wide memory interface of the AD103; as is the total graphics power (TGP), at 320 W. All cards will include an NVIDIA-designed adapter that converts three 8-pin PCIe power connectors into a 12VHPWR that's capable of delivering 450 W of power. The target audience for this card is the same as that of the RTX 4080—maxed out 4K Ultra HD gaming with ray tracing. An early example was documented on the /NVIDIA community subreddit—user "LightMoisture" provided evidence of his PNY RTX 4070 Ti VERTO Triple Fan purchase arriving two days before the sanctioned release date (January 24).

It is not too surprising to see retailers ship out pre-ordered products a tad prematurely (given delivery lead times), but intriguing posts on social media have been highlighted by VideoCardz. A very fortunate soul has received an ASUS ROG STRIX RTX 4080 SUPER OC graphics card, well in advance of Team Green's preferred January 31 launch day. The plucky owner has asked around for functioning drivers (good luck)—LightMoisture also ran into this issue with his PNY RTX 4070 Ti VERTO. The next public GeForce Driver release (551.15) is due tomorrow, with (presumed) support for GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER GPUs. LightMoisture's evidence included screenshots of the aforementioned PNY card's crendentials being displayed in TechPowerUp GPU-Z v2.57.0, and test results generated by Maxon's Cinebench 2024 suite.

ZOTAC's new range of GeForce RTX 40 SUPER graphics cards have frequently hit headlines since an unveiling at CES 2024—the Hong Kong-headquarted hardware manufacturer set the tone early, with certain models sticking to NVIDIA guide prices. Hardware sleuth, momomo_us, has continued to keep track of ZOTAC-related activity—their latest discovery being the premature sale of GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super Trinity Black Edition 16 GB models on Amazon USA. The listing popped up over the weekend, with customers greeted to a $899.99 asking price—so $100 above MSRP. It is clear that this product page was activated by mistake—the card is not available to purchase (at the time of writing).

VideoCardz proceeded to investigate further, following the initial find (courtesy of momomo_us)—their weekend sleuthing efforts have outed additional premature ZOTAC listings on Amazon.com. In the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER category we can see the AMP Extreme AIRO version ($1399.99), Trinity OC White Edition ($1349.99) and Trinity Black Edition ($1299.99). Moving down the line—with 4070 Ti SUPER cards—listings appeared for AMP HOLO ($969.99), Trinity OC White Edition ($939.99) and the aforementioned Trinity Black Edition (non-overclocked) coming in at $899.99. They also tracked down PNY's GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER 16 GB XLR8 Gaming VERTO EPIC-X RGB graphics card—its Amazon price listing was reported as being a semi-wallet friendly $1049 (prior to deactivation).

NVIDIA revealed basic price guides for GeForce RTX-40 SUPER graphics cards at the recently concluded CES 2024 trade show, but their board partners largely stayed coy about figures for customized options (review embargoes will be lifted soon). The leaked results show that GIGABYTE and PNY have custom overclocked GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER models targeting base MSRP at $599, while MSI has several options exceeding that base level—ranging from $10 to $50 premiums. GIGABYTE's GAMING OC card also tops the table at $649. Jumping up to the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER tier, we see a GIGABYTE Gaming OC model sitting at $849.99 and an MSI VENTUS 3X OC going for $899.99. The sole custom GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER within the VideoCardz article appears to be an MSI VENTUS 3X OC; we are witnessing a $100 extra tacked on for this design.

PNY at the 2023 Computex, showed off an M.2-2280 SSD cooling solution with nor one, but two fans, in what is a sign of things to come with upcoming PCIe Gen 5 NVMe SSDs. The cooler features an extruded aluminium monoblock heatsink with a pair of 20 mm fans at its two ends. The central portion of the cooler has the bulk of its aluminium fins. A top-plate has an RGB illuminated, stylized PNY logo, which can be synchronized with the lighting of your PNY XLR8 Verto EPIC-X graphics cards. It's smarter on PNY's part to market the cooler as a separate product, than part of any upcoming PCIe Gen 5 SSD.

PNY RTX 4070 GPUs feature 12 GB of super-fast GDDR6X on-board memory powered by the ultra-efficient NVIDIA Ada Lovelace architecture and the 3rd generation of RTX, delivering the speed needed to rip through the most demanding games and effortlessly create content.

Although it is scheduled to launch next week, the first NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 graphics cards have started to show up in retail, confirming some of the SKUs from various NVIDIA AIC partners. While price rumors officially start with those same retailers, this time around, the price has leaked earlier in the form of NVIDIA's official slide, and it should start at $599. Early listings and placeholder pricing put the GeForce RTX 4070 at rather high $823 or even $915.

The first RTX 4070 spotted came from MSI, and according to retail listings and ECC filings, it appears that MSI will have a couple of Ventus, Gaming, and Suprim series RTX 4070 graphics cards. According to the list from Videocardz, Gainward will offer RTX 4070 Ghost, in standard and OC version. Gigabyte is so far confirmed with RTX 4070 Eagle OC. Palit will have GamingPro and JetStream versions, and PNY will have two RTX 4070 graphics cards. Of course, more will show up as we draw closer to the launch date. First reviews for the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 are expected on April 12th.

PNY today rolled out the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Verto White Edition (model: VCG4070T12TFWXPB1). A variant of the RTX 4070 Ti Verto Triple Fan that the company debuted its RTX 4070 Ti series with; the Verto White Edition sees the cooler shroud, backplate, and the impellers of the three fans in matte white. There are no RGB diffusers near those X-shaped grooves surrounding the middle fan. The underlying PCB is still black. The card is 30.51 cm long, 11.9 cm tall, and exactly 3 slots thick. PNY has given the RTX 4070 Ti Verto White Edition NVIDIA-reference clock speeds for the GPU, with a boost frequency of 2610 MHz, and an untouched 21 Gbps GDDR6X memory speed. The company didn't reveal pricing.

By spanning the entire PCB, the water block directly cools the GPU, HBM VRAM, and the VRM (voltage regulation module) as the cooling liquid is channeled directly over these critical areas.

The Core product line takes shape with the new coolers in the usual high quality, excellent performance and functional design language. The heart of the copper cooler is an assembly of connector terminal and cooler, which is milled from one piece of copper. The fine workmanship combined with the hard and resistant chrome plating of the entire copper cooler meet the highest quality standards. The brass G1/4" threads integrated on both sides, also chrome-plated, stand out visually striking from the terminal and are one of the key points of the new design language that will be present in all products of the Core series.

The aluminium backplate matched to the design together with the terminal forms a single unit. It convinces with clear and homogeneous optics on the back of the cooler. The individually controllable lighting consists of digitally addressable RGB LEDs and enables the even and colorful illumination of the entire cooler.

VideoCardz has obtained images and specifications of PNY's two upcoming GeForce RTX 4070 Ti models. According to the latest leak, these GPUs are equipped with 7680 CUDA cores and 12 GB of GDDR6X memory. This configuration resembles the canceled GeForce RTX 4080 12 GB edition card, which confirms that NVIDIA will rebrand it under the RTX 4070 Ti naming scheme. PNY has prepared GeForce RTX 4070 Ti XLR8 VERTO and VERTO GPUs, with the difference in cooler design and applied factory overclocking. The XLR8 version bears the same cooler as the RTX 4080 XRL8 card, adapted for the RTX 4070 Ti GPU SKU. This design should naturally offer greater overclocking performance than the regular VERTO SKU.

The render below looks like the 16-pin 12VHPWR power connector remains on these cards and that PNY has not swapped it for another solution. We expect to hear more about these cards on January 5th, when NVIDIA plans to launch.
