NETGEAR Showcases Industry's First 802.11ac Cable Gateway

Intel Previews 1 Gbps DOCSIS 3.0 Gateway Capability at The Cable Show

Intel Corporation today previewed its first DOCSIS 3.0 cable gateway solution that is capable of 1 gigabit per second (Gbps). The Intel Puma 6 technology solution will help enable service providers to meet consumer demand and offer new services while extending their extensive network investments. A test program by South Korea’s SKbroadband is targeting production deployment of 1 Gbps in 2013.

As the number of Internet-connected devices in the home grows, service providers are challenged to provide higher broadband speeds to more customers utilizing an existing cable network. A service provider’s ability to scale up to this high level of bandwidth will help enable new high-bandwidth experiences for what the industry calls “TV Everywhere,” an immersive blend of Internet, television, gaming and applications across multiple screens throughout the home.

Acer Announces Ivy Bridge-Based Desktops

Gateway Releases the LT4004U Cedar Trail-Based Netbook

Acer subsidiary Gateway has also adopted Intel's Cedar Trail platform and released a netbook built around it, the LT4004U. This new netbook runs Windows 7 Starter and features a 10.1-inch (1024 x 600) LED-backlit display, a 1.6 GHz Atom N2600 dual-core processor, GMA 3600 integrated graphics, 1 GB of RAM, a 250 GB (5400 RPM) hard drive, a multi-in-1 card reader, 10/100 LAN, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, a HDMI output, and a 6-cell battery providing 8 hours of operation.

Gateway Rolls Out Multi-touch Capable Windows 7 All-in-one Desktops

Gateway rolled out two new all-in-one PCs that boast of multi-touch capable displays. The Gateway One ZX6800 (23-inch), and Gateway One ZX4800 (20-inch) PCs come with everything expected from PCs in this quickly growing category. While the ZX6800 offers a full-HD screen resolution of 1920 x 1080, the ZX4800 give 1600 x 900. Under the hood, the ZX6800 packs an Intel Core 2 Quad 2.33 GHz processor, 8 GB of memory, and ATI Radeon HD 4670 1 GB powering the graphics, DVD Writer, 64 GB SSD to store the OS and installed applications, 1 TB hard drive for storage, gigbit Ethernet and WiFi b/g/n, a hybrid TV-tuner, and 5.1 channel audio (outputs).

The ZX4800 on the other hand, is powered by an Intel Pentium Dual-Core 2.10 GHz, 4 GB memory, Intel GMA X4500 integrated graphics, a 750 GB hard drive (no SSD here), the rest of its specs is identical to its sibling, except that it doesn't pack the TV-tuner. Both come with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit pre-installed. The multi-touch capabilities may come of use thanks to Windows 7's finger enhancements, and the various applications the company will be bundling. Slated for a time-frame between late October and early November, the Gateway One X6800 will carry a price-tag of US $1399, while the X4800 will sell for $749.

Gateway Readying QX2800 NVIDIA ION Nettop

Gateway is yet another in the league of hardware vendors interested in the NVIDIA ION platform. The Gateway QX2800 nettop resembles Acer's AspireRevo in more ways that one, topped with Gateway's own bunch of changes. Under the hood is Intel's Atom 330 dual-core processor, 2 GB of DDR2 800 MHz memory, NVIDIA GeForce 9400M mGPU, and a 500 GB hard drive.

Display outputs are care of DVI-D and HDMI. Apart from six USB 2.0 ports that provide virtually limitless removable storage options, the nettop features a 4-in-1 flash media card reader. Connectivity options include gigabit Ethernet, and WiFi (IEEE 802.11b/g/n). A six channel HD audio CODEC tops it up. The Gateway QX2800 comes with Windows Vista Home Premium pre-installed. It could be priced under 350 Euros.

Gateway Introduces Intel Atom N270-equipped LT2000 Netbook

Gateway Inc. today introduces the Gateway LT2000, a new sleek and compact netbook with a 10.1-inch TFT LED-backlit display that will let mobile customers maximize their time on the go to stay connected and productive. Gateway Intros New Widescreen HD Monitors

Gateway announced two new widescreen LCD monitors in its ranks. The FHD2102 bmidgz is a 21.5 inch display, while the FHD2402 bmidgz is 24 inch. Both offer a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, and brightness of 300 cd/m². While the FHD2102 offers access time of 5 ms and dynamic contrast ratio of 20000:1, the FHD2402 provides 2 ms of access time and 40000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. Both monitors take input from DVI, D-Sub and HDMI. They are mounted with 2W stereo speakers. While the FHD2102 sells for $200, the FHD2402 is priced higher, at $270.

Gateway Unveils New 14-inch Mainstream Entertainment Laptops

Gateway today extends the popular design and features of its MC Series and MD Series notebook lines to its new compact and lightweight TC Series notebook line, which sports a 14-inch high definition display and an attractive price tag. The Gateway TC Series notebook line is intended to be a mainstream entertainment notebook with a 14-inch 16:9 Ultrabright HD widescreen display with (1366x768 resolution) and plenty of multimedia features. Included are an integrated 1.3 megapixel webcam, 802.11b/g Draft-N wireless, Gigabit Ethernet 5-in-1 media card reader (SD, MMC, MS, MS Pro and xD) as well as three USB 2.0 ports and illuminated multimedia touch controls. Gateway TBGM-01 MATX X58 Motherboard Pictured

Full-featured motherboards in the mATX form-factor seem to be back in fashion, with manufacturers gaining interest. mATX motherboards based on some performance desktop chipsets such as Intel P45, AMD 790GX, even the Core i7 supportive Intel X58 have seen the light of the day. After the DFI LP JR X58-T3H6, the second known X58 motherboard in the form-factor has surfaced thanks to an observation by one of our community members: Gateway TBGM-01 (as read from its DMI data). This motherboard from Gateway is for the OEM channels, and features some Gateway FX gaming PCs. It has been pictured in an installed on one such PC.

The motherboard features a 4+1 phase CPU power circuit. It features two PCI-Express 2.0 x16 slots for ATI CrossFire, and a PCI-Express x4 slot. Sadly it lacks PCI slots. It has six DDR3 DIMM slots for DDR3-1333 MHz memory. It features six SATA II ports, 7.1ch HD audio among other standard features.

Gateway Updates its FX Notebook Family with the P-7811 FX Gaming Laptop

Gateway today gave its FX notebook family a fresh new member, the P-7811 FX gaming notebook. Based on Intel's Centrino 2 platform that runs a 2.26GHz Core 2 Duo P8400 with bumped 1066MHz bus, the P-7811 FX also packs NVIDIA's GeForce 9800M GTS 512MB, 4GB of RAM, a 200GB hard drive, and a 17-inch widescreen LCD with 1920x1200 native resolution. The P-7811FX even includes a 1.3 megapixel camera, a 5-in-1 memory card reader, a DVD writer, HDMI 1.3a connectivity and Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit OS to visualize all that hardware. BestBuy shops should start selling the Gateway P-7811 FX any minute now, so be prepared. The recommended price tag for this configuration is $1,399.99.
