Lenovo Launches its First Android Laptop, the IdeaPad A10

Multimode computing leader Lenovo, today announced the Lenovo A10, an affordable, ultra-portable, dual-mode laptop and the company's first to run on Android 4.2 OS. Weighing less than 1kg and measuring just 17.3mm at its thickest point, the Lenovo A10 is an ideal companion for users on the go, providing easy access to a wide range of apps on a unique, dual-mode platform, which enhances the user experience for entertainment and Web browsing as well as productivity.

"In laptop mode," users can take advantage of the A10's unique, Lenovo-customized user interface, which provides an app launcher, task bar and status bar for quick, intuitive access to the app library and desktop, as well as convenient multitasking and app switching. File manager software, also included with the Lenovo customized OS, makes it easy to locate and manage a library of documents, videos and music. In laptop mode, the device offers a full-size ergonomic, AccuType keyboard for safe, comfortable use.

Lenovo First Major PC OEM to Bundle Third-Party Windows 8 Start Menu

It's been a long time coming, sensing market resistance to the Start menu-devoid Windows 8, Lenovo became the first major PC OEM to bundle a third-party Start menu emulation software with its PCs. The company is bundling SweetLabs Pokki custom UI suite, which adds a Start menu to the Windows 8 taskbar, and lets you boot the operating system straight to desktop, pole-vaulting the Start screen. Pokki may come pre-installed, or the bloatware disc might have its installers. Lenovo plans to give away Pokki with most of its ThinkPad, IdeaPad, and IdeaCenter products. As the single largest PC OEM, Lenovo's move to bundle such software could force Microsoft to sit up and take notice of what the market wants.

Lenovo Launches Yoga 11S Convertible

Lenovo announced that customers can place orders for the IdeaPad Yoga 11S beginning today on www.lenovo.com or pre-order on www.bestbuy.com. NVIDIA Reports Financial Results For Annual and Fourth Quarter Fiscal 2013

NVIDIA (NASDAQ: NVDA) today reported revenue for fiscal 2013 ended Jan. 27, 2013, of a record $4.28 billion, up 7.1 percent from $4.00 billion in fiscal 2012. GAAP earnings per share for the year were $0.90 per diluted share, a decrease of 4.3 percent from $0.94 in fiscal 2012. Non-GAAP earnings per diluted share were $1.17, down 1.7 percent from $1.19 in fiscal 2012.

During the quarter, NVIDIA repurchased $100.0 million of stock and paid a dividend of $0.075 per share, equivalent to $46.9 million. "This year we did the best work in our company's history," said Jen-Hsun Huang, president and chief executive officer of NVIDIA. "We achieved record revenues, margins and cash, despite significant market headwinds.

Lenovo Unleashes New Windows 8 Touch Devices

Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 11 Starts Selling

Ahead of its December launch, Lenovo started taking orders for the IdeaPad Yoga 11, designed for those who do find the IdeaPad Yoga 13 two inches too big for lugging around, given that it's a convertible tablet. The IdeaPad Yoga 11 is driven by Windows RT, NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor clocked at 1.50 GHz. Ivy Bridge-Powered Lenovo IdeaPad Y480 Laptop Up for Order

Lenovo's online shop is now selling an Ivy Bridge-based laptop that promises to offer an "unbeatable entertainment and gaming experience". The laptop in question is the IdeaPad Y480 which features a 14-inch (1366 x 768) LED-backlit display, an Intel 3rd generation Core processor (either the 2.4 GHz i3-2370M or 2.3 GHz i7-3610QM), up to 8 GB of RAM, up to a 1 TB HDD (and a 32 GB SSD), and an NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M graphics card with 1 GB or 2 GB of VRAM.

Lenovo's 14-inch mobile PC is 32.8 mm (1.3-inch) thick and also has a brushed-metal chassis, a backlit keyboard (optional), a 1.0-megapixel webcam, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, JBL stereo speakers, a 6-in-1 card reader, two USB 3.0 ports, a HDMI output, and a 6-cell battery allowing up to 4 hours of use per charge.

Lenovo Continues to Speed Up PC Boot, Start Times with Enhanced Experience 3

Lenovo today launched its latest effort to eliminate slow boot up times with Lenovo Enhanced Experience 3 (EE3) for Windows 7. Lenovo Reports Third Quarter 2011/2012 Results

Lenovo Group reported results for its third fiscal quarter ended December 31, 2011, highlighted by record highs in quarterly sales, pre-tax income and market share, and the 11th quarter in a row that Lenovo has grown faster than the industry as a whole. For the ninth quarter in a row, the Company grew faster than any of the top four PC manufacturers, a result of Lenovo’s continued focus on balanced growth across all geographies, customer segments and product lines. During the third quarter, Lenovo recorded its highest-ever worldwide market share of 14.0* percent, and its highest-ever market share in China of 35.3 percent, an increase of 3.7 and 3.1 share points year-over-year respectively.

During the third fiscal quarter Lenovo’s pre-tax income increased 59 percent year-over-year, to a record high of US$192 million.

Lenovo Debuts the IdeaPad Y470p 14-inch Laptop

A quick glance over Lenovo's web shop will confirm the availability of a new IdeaPad laptop, a model called Y470p which features a 14-inch (1366 x 768) LED-backlit display, a 2.2 GHz Core i7-2670QM processor, 8 GB of RAM, an AMD Radeon HD 7690 1GB discrete graphics card, a 750 GB hard drive, and a DVD writer.

Lenovo put its IdeaPad U300s ultrabook up for pre-order on its company online store. Soon enough, many buyers found themselves to have back-ordered it. The initial few waves of orders got December 19 as the expected shipment date, the rest will have to wait for at least another few weeks. Not only is the U300s back-ordered, but it's also that the winter break is falling in between that period. Lenovo Intros IdeaPad S10-3 Netbook Powered by Intel Atom N550

Following Intel's announcement of the new Atom N550 dual-core processor, Lenovo is one of the first to be out with an IdeaPad netbook model that makes use of it. The 1.50 GHz clocked Atom N550 is based on the second-generation Atom architecture. The new IdeaPad S10-3, is a 10.1 inch netbook with a display resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. The Atom N550 processor is aided by 1 GB of DDR3 memory, 250 GB of storage; and connectivity that includes 10/100 Ethernet, WiFi b/g/n, a number of USB 2.0 ports, and Bluetooth 2.1. The only removable storage device is a 5-in-1 card reader, while a 1.3 megapixel camera decks up the screen. Windows 7 Starter is the OS installed. Lenovo Introduces IdeaPad S12 Powered by VIA Nano

Lenovo finally made the initiative to include a netbook powered by the VIA Nano processor. This IdeaPad S-12 uses the same exact name and chassis as the one powered by Intel Atom, based on i945 chipset, and exists merely as a variant in the S12 series. On the brighter side, it is priced $50 lower than its Atom-based cousin.

Its specifications include a 12-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, VIA Nano ULV 2250 processor clocked at 1.30 GHz, 1 GB DDR2 memory, VIA VX855 chipset with S3 Chrome9 HC3 integrated graphics, 160 GB of storage, and a 6-cell battery, 1.3 MP web-camera, WLAN and Ethernet, and optional Bluetooth. It comes with Windows XP SP3 pre-installed. Backed by a one-year warranty, the S12 is priced at US $449.
