Sea Sonic and HashFast Sign Deal To Power Next Generation of Bitcoin Mining Gear

Sea Sonic Electronics Co. Ltd and HashFast Technologies LLC announced today that they have signed an agreement for Sea Sonic to produce power supplies for HashFast's Bitcoin mining systems.

The Baby Jet and Sierra mining units will be built using Sea Sonic power supplies, which are widely known for their industry-leading efficiency, quality and reliability. The highly stable output voltage from Sea Sonic supplies ensures the miners will consistently reach their maximum hashing performance. The very high efficiency of these supplies lowers the electrical costs involved in mining, and reduces the waste heat produced. Tests of the Sea Sonic power supply show an incredibly stable output and longevity, even when machines are overclocked, enabling miners to generate more Bitcoin for their money.

Seasonic Shows Off 1200 W Platinum Power Supply

More than eighteen months after it first debuted the P Series, Seasonic unveils its range topping SS-1200XP3 (where XP3 denotes a third generation product). Visually, the new power supply closely resembles the 1000 W version and the first generation 860 W version (now retired). Also similar is the fan employed by the new unit, being the same Sanyo Denki San Ace 9S that Seasonic employs across its premium product lines. The similarities do not stop here though, the unit boasts the same semi-fanless operation mode where the fan is engaged only at loads exceeding 30% of the PSU's rated output, also the customary 105° C rated Japanese capacitors are used throughout the unit. Seasonic also advertises this unit as a single +12V rail design, just like it did (and still does) with its first generation P Series products, in spite of the fact that they are quad-rail designs with OCP trip points set very high. Remains to be seen if that is the case with the 1200 W version as well.

Rosewill Announces SilentNight and Tachyon PSUs

Rosewill announced the SilentNight 500W fanless PSU and Tachyon 550W. The two 80 Plus Platinum-compliant PSUs were launched earlier today. The SilentNight 500W appears to be based on a Super Flower platform, and uses a chunky aluminum heatsink that makes direct contact with hot components such as FETs, to cool itself, without needing a fan. It features sufficient cabling for a mid-range dual-GPU gaming PC, including a pair 6+2 pin PCIe connectors, 8-pin EPS, 24-pin ATX, and up to six SATA power connectors. It uses a partially-modular cabling layout.

The Tachyon 550W, on the other hand, uses a slow (quiet) temperature-controlled 140 mm fan to cool itself. It packs an identical contingent of cables to the SilentNight 500W. Both models feature single +12V rail designs, modern regulatory compliances, and protection against a variety of electrical anomalies, such as over/under voltage, overload, short-circuit, overheat, etc. The two will occupy price points around US $100.
