be quiet! at Computex 2023: New Shadow Base Series, Dark Base 901/701, and Straight Power 12 PSU

be quiet!, a German company focusing on creating PC components and accessories, had a strong presence at Computex 2023. Showing off its cases and power supplies, the company introduced a few additions to its portfolio of offerings. For starters, be quiet! has introduced a new case series called Shadow Base. The new Shadow Base lineup is focused on maximum airflow and maximum performance, where the company has made a new open mesh design that allows for "exceptionally high airflow." Inaugurating model of the series is the Shadow Base 800, which comes in three flavors: standard, DX, and FX. The standard edition is just a regular case without flashy RGB; the DX model has an RGB strip, while the FX model is tailored for maximum RGB illumination across the case. With up to E-ATX motherboard support, the case supports three or four 140 mm fans, depending on the variant. You can see the specification sheet below.

Fractal Design Launches the Pop Series of Cases

Fractal fuse style and function in the Pop Series - a brand-new case family. Pop Air features a mesh front to prioritize airflow, while Pop Silent offers sound-dampened panels and a closed front to help minimize sound. While Pop Air and Pop Silent might differ in their ambitions, both styles offer a solid build quality, a straight-forward layout, and a uniquely stylish design expression.

Pop Air brings attitude to airflow, melding precision engineering with dynamic design. This includes a range of cases with vividly colored motherboard plates, drive trays and exterior accents for a fresh, expressive feel. The functional focal point of Pop Air is at the front, where a honeycomb mesh provides access to fan-powered cooling. As with all Pop Series cases, the front also introduces a neatly concealed storage drawer which can be used to stow away desktop clutter or be replaced to host up to two optical drives.

be quiet! Shadow Rock Slim, Shadow Rock TF2, Silent Loop Coolers Pictured

be quiet! is at it again this Computex, showing off a myriad for new products which look to fill the company's line-up with some extra cooling capabilities. The Shadow Rock Slim stands as a new, slim tower cooler, which should help in cramped environments where maintaining availability of that pesky leftmost RAM slot can be a problem (another solution might be just cutting the leftmost RAM slot entirely!)

In addition, the company also showcased the Shadow Rock TF2, another compact cooling solution - this time on the Z axis. It can dissipate up to 160 W, features five copper heatpipes and has an operating noise of up to 24.4 dbA, which isn't all too shabby. But if you are looking for a new cooling solution for your GPU (maybe your Founder's Edition NVIDIA graphics card, why not) be quiet! has you covered with their new Silent Loop. This is an AIO which looks to be both performant and expensive, since its radiator is being touted as a full copper solution. The Silent Loop features three Silent Wing 2 PWM controlled fans. The pump has some tricks up its sleeve as well, being a decoupled, reverse-flow solution which be quiet! says is quieter, smoother and less prone to vibrations than more conventional pump designs.

Nanoxia Unveils Their New N.N.V. Series of Silent Fans

Nanoxia announces itself as the only brand in the PC industry allowed to make use of a specific piece of technology, employed by German car manufacturers to circulate air in the seat heating of their cars. This enables them to offer the first virtually vibration-free PC fan in the world.

You all know the effect what happens, when you connect a vibrating fan to a solid body - noise is generated. This is one of the main sources of fan generated noise. In order to counteract this effect, the user had to employ various forms of decoupling materials. With our fans of the Special N.N.V. series, this problem is solved once and forever. The new "No Vibrations" principle provides us with torques of a particularly pleasant nature.

CRYORIG Announces the New "QF140 Performance" and "QF140 Silent" System Fans

The QF140, like the original QF120 line, features CRYORIG proprietary Quad Air Intake system. Four strategically placed air intakes are located on the corners of the QF140 fan frame, allowing the static pressure optimized fan blades take in extra air from the sides of the fan frame increasing overall air output. CRYORIG HPLN High Precision Low Noise fluid bearing is used again for low noise performance. Integrated rubber Vibration Absorbers also come preinstalled to absorb excess vibration. Both QF140 models are fully PWM capable for advanced user RPM control.

New Cherry MX Black Silent Switches Announced; No Longer Exclusive to Corsair

Cherry GmbH, the German-American computer peripheral-device maker best known for its mechanical keyboard switches, has announced a new addition to their Silent line of switches. The new Silent Black switches join the company's Silent line-up of Silent Red, Silent RGB Red, and Silent RGB Black. Cherry MX Silent switches are not particularly new, but until now, they were limited to linear Red switches, and were used exclusively on Corsair products (such as the STRAFE RGB Keyboard). Now, though, Corsair's exclusivity has come to an end, leaving other companies free to implement the Silent switches onto their own keyboards.

The "silent" operation is achieved via a rubber pad which dampens the sound of both the switch bottoming out and the rebound noise. Otherwise, the switches' specifications are identical to those of their non-silent counterparts. It's also worth noting that both Red and Black switches are linear, meaning there's no extra click within the key travel. The Silent Black switches are specified for 60 cN +/- 20 cN actuation force (against the 40 cN of their Silent Red counterparts), 2mm +/-0.6 pretravel, 4mm /-0.4 actuator travel, <5 ms bounce time, and are rated at 50 million key presses.

Nofan Working on Affordable CR-80EH Silent CPU Cooler

Silent cooling solutions maker Nofan, of the CR-95C fame, unveiled its second, more affordable silent CPU cooler, the CR-80EH. While its bigger, copper-built sibling can handle CPUs with TDP of up to 95W, this one caps out at 80W, so it should handle certain low-power variants of quad-core Intel Core "Ivy Bridge" and "Haswell" chips just fine.

The cooler features a diameter for its upper ring of 155 mm, and a height of 113 mm. Built of copper, it weighs about 300 g. Its design involves a solid copper base that's polished to a mirror finish, from which copper fins project up and out in a conical fashion. A 6 mm-thick heat pipe holds the fin array together. The Nofan CR-80EH supports Intel sockets LGA1150, LGA1155, and LGA1156. AMD socket FM2 is also supported, but the manufacturer recommends chips with under 80W TDP. The CR-80EH is expected to arrive in a few weeks, priced at US $60.

be quiet! Power Zone Series Detailed

During the recently ended Computex event in Taipei, be quiet! presented a wide range of new products, CPU coolers as well as power supplies. Among them a new upper-mainstream PSU line dubbed Power Zone, which consists of four models starting at 650 W and followed by 750 W, 850 W and 1000 W versions. This constitutes a premiere for be quiet! in that these are the first fully modular power supplies to be offered by the German brand. Another aspect intended to be addressed with this product line is affordability, which is something few of us would associate with the be quiet! moniker.

The four units comprising the Power Zone line are single +12V rail designs, use only 105° C rated capacitors and claim 80 Plus Bronze efficiency. They also make use of the be quiet! Silent Wings 135 mm fan, which is a Protechnic made Fluid Dynamic Bearing fan, probably the best fan you can have inside a power supply. The modular connector panel also houses three fan headers, feature carried over from the Dark Power Pro P10 line. be quiet! will offer these products with a 5 year warranty and pricing should start below 100 €.
