Giada Unveils Intel "Skylake" Based NUC

Embedded systems and IPC major Giada is one of the first to openly exhibit a NUC (next unit of computing) compact desktop based on Intel's 6th generation Core "Skylake" processor. The i80 Ultra-Compact Mini PC by Giada features a "Skylake-U" dual-core processor, meant for Ultrabooks and NUCs; and tucks in four USB 3.0 ports, 802.11 ac WLAN, gigabit Ethernet (Intel controller), mini-DisplayPort, and HDMI 2.0, with just enough room for an mSATA SSD; in a compact chassis that measures 116.6 mm x 111 mm x 47.5 mm.

BIOSTAR Also Shows Off Micro-ATX Hi-Fi H170Z3 with Dual Memory Type Support

In addition to the Hi-Fi B150Z5, BIOSTAR unveiled the micro-ATX Hi-Fi H170Z3. BIOSTAR Shows off Hi-Fi B150Z5 with DDR3 and DDR4 Memory Slots

Here's one of the first glimpses of a socket LGA1151 motherboard featuring both DDR3 and DDR4 memory slots, the Hi-Fi B150Z5 by BIOSTAR. The board supports up to 16 GB of DDR3L-1600, and up to 32 GB of DDR4-2133. The board is driven by Intel's mid-range B150 Express chipset, and should do just fine for gaming builds with single graphics cards. Expansion slots include one PCI-Express 3.0 x16, one PCIe 2.0 x16 (electrical x4), three legacy PCI, and one PCIe 2.0 x1. SilverStone Petite PT20 "Broadwell" NUC Case Picture

SilverStone's foray into the super-compact NUC enclosure market is led by its Petite series. Picture here, is the PT20, the company's enclosure for Intel Core "Broadwell" equipped NUC boards. The case may look aluminium, but is made of SECC steel. Measuring 125 mm x 50 mm x 110 mm (WxHxD), the case features a single 2.5-inch drive bay, cutouts at the right spots, including two USB 3.0 front-panel ports.

Shuttle Unveils Robust PCs with Built-in Broadwell Core i3, i5 and i7 Processors

Up to now, absolute noiselessness combined with compact dimensions meant sacrificing computing performance. Whenever high performance was called for, an active cooling system always had to be fitted. Shuttle now makes a difference and demonstrates that fanless computers and speed are no longer mutually exclusive.

Shuttle is adding three new models to expand its DS series in one fell swoop. The existing DS57U is now complemented in European stores by the DS57U3, DS57U5 and DS57U7 all with soldered Intel Core i3, Core i5 and Core i7 processors. The four models, all in black, are based on 14 nm Broadwell micro-architecture, featuring extremely low energy consumption and an improved graphics unit.

In Win 909 Yet Another Eyeball Magnet

It's never a Computex without a wacky albeit highly desirable premium case by In Win. This time around, it's the new 909. This ATX full-tower is made of high quality brushed aluminium panels decking an aluminium frame; with a tempered glass side panel, with front panel connectivity flowing to the side. The case has room for E-ATX motherboards (up to 8 expansion slots), with add-on cards as long as 320 mm, and CPU coolers as tall as 180 mm. The PSU bay can hold on to a high-end unit as long as 220 mm, with room to spare for your cable spaghetti.

The cooling system on the In Win 909 includes two 140 mm front intakes, a 120 mm conveyor between the drive cage and motherboard tray, either three 120 mm or two 140 mm rear exhausts, and two 120 mm bottom intakes. You can turn these into room for a 140 x 280 mm front radiator, a 120 mm middle radiator, a 360 mm or 280 mm rear radiator, and a 240 mm bottom radiator, 35 mm to 60 mm thick. Front panel connectivity includes a USB 3.1 Type-C connector (standard header), three USB 3.0 Type-A, and HDA audio jacks.

Corsair Announces Obsidian 750D Airflow Edition Case

ASUS X99M-WS Micro-ATX Motherboard Pictured

Here's the first picture of ASUS X99M-WS, an upcoming workstation-grade socket LGA2011v3 motherboard based on the Intel X99 Express chipset, which the company claims will be the "most powerful" motherboard of its kind in this form-factor. The board draws power from 24-pin ATX, and two 8-pin EPS power connectors, with an optional 6-pin PCIe power input to stabilize power to add-on cards. The socket is wired to four DDR4 DIMM slots, supporting up to 128 GB of quad-channel DDR4 memory; and two PCI-Express 3.0 x16 connectors.

Other expansion slots include one PCI-Express 2.0 x16 (electrical x4) and a PCI-Express 2.0 x1. Storage connectivity includes eight SATA 6 Gb/s, and a 32 Gb/s M.2 slot. Other connectivity includes two USB 3.1 ports, six USB 3.0 ports, two gigabit Ethernet interfaces (Intel-made controllers); 802.11 ac WLAN, Bluetooth 4.0, 8-channel HD audio with a 115 dBA SNR CODEC, ground-layer isolation, and audio-grade capacitors. The board supports certain 1P Intel Xeon models in addition to Core i7 ones.

GIGABYTE Also Shows off B150M-D3H Micro-ATX Motherboard

The B150M-D3H, based on Intel's mid-range B150 Express chipset, offers a neat feature-set at a potentially sub-$100 price point. This full-width micro-ATX board offers a 6-phase CPU VRM, four DDR4 DIMM slots, supporting dual-channel DDR4-2666 memory, expansion slots that include one PCI-Express 3.0 x16, two legacy PCI, and one PCI-Express 2.0 x16 (electrical x4). Storage connectivity includes a 32 Gb/s M.2 slot, two SATA-Express 16 Gb/s ports, and six SATA 6 Gb/s ports. D-Sub, DVI, and HDMI make up the display outputs; six USB 3.0 ports, gigabit Ethernet and 8-channel HD audio make for the rest of it.

GIGABYTE Shows off Entry-level Z170-HD3 Motherboard

GIGABYTE showed off its entry-level ATX motherboard based on Intel Z170 chipset, the Z170-HD3. This socket LGA1151 board, ready for 6th generation Core "Skylake" processors, offers a basic feature-set for single graphics card gaming PC builds. The board draws power from a combination of 24-pin ATX and 8-pin EPS power connectors, and conditions it for the CPU with a 7-phase VRM. The CPU socket is wired to four DDR4 DIMM slots, supporting dual-channel DDR4 memory.

Expansion slots on the Z170-HD3 include one PCI-Express 3.0 x16, a PCI-Express 2.0 x16 (electrical x4, wired to the PCH), and two each of PCI-Express 2.0 x1 and legacy PCI. Storage connectivity includes 32 Gb/s M.2 (PCI-Express 3.0 x4 physical layer), two SATA-Express 16 Gb/s, and six SATA 6 Gb/s. Display outputs include one each of D-Sub, dual-link DVI, and HDMI 2.0. Six USB 3.0 ports, gigabit Ethernet (Realtek controller), and 8-channel HD audio with audio-grade capacitors and ground-layer isolation make for the rest of its modern connectivity.

QNAP Announces the AMD-powered TS-563 NAS

QNAP Systems, Inc. continues its partnership with Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD) to announce the 5-bay TS-563 Turbo NAS. Here's the first picture of BIOSTAR's upcoming socket LGA1151 motherboard, the Gaming-Z170X, designed for 6th generation Core "Skylake" processors. This particular board, in its unfinished form, features DDR4 DIMM slots; but there could be other models in the series, with DDR3 DIMM slots. The board could be exhibited without its final PCB color and heatsinks, at the upcoming Computex event. This picture also gives you a glimpse of the Z170 PCH in the flesh.

From the looks of it, the Gaming-Z170X looks pretty feature-packed, offering a 14-phase CPU VRM, three PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots (x16/NC/NC or x8/x8/NC or x8/x4/x4), and storage connectivity that includes three (yes, three) SATA-Express 10 Gb/s ports, carved out of the board's six SATA 6 Gb/s ports; and two M.2 10 Gb/s slots, with a third mPCIe riser. BIOSTAR's Hi-Fi audio solution, which includes a 600Ω headphones amp, a 115 dBA SNR CODEC, and ground-layer isolation; and Killer E2200 wired networking, along with a handful of USB 3.0 (including some USB 3.1?) ports make for the rest of its modern connectivity.

Apple Introduces 15-inch MacBook Pro with Force Touch Trackpad & New $1,999 iMac

Apple today updated the 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display with the new Force Touch trackpad, faster flash storage, longer battery life and faster discrete graphics, delivering even more performance and capabilities to the MacBook Pro line. ASUS Unveils N3150M-E Motherboard with Celeron "Braswell" SoC

ASUS unveiled a value micro-ATX motherboard based on the new Intel Celeron N3150 SoC "Braswell." This 14 nanometer chip embeds a quad-core CPU based on the "Airmont" architecture, an integrated GPU with 12 execution units, and a dual-channel DDR3L-1600 memory controller, apart from platform core-logic. The board draws power from a 24-pin ATX and 4-pin CPU power connectors.

Gigabyte Intros Z97X-Game Plus Motherboard

From a sea of black and red, Gigabyte brushed a refreshing stroke of green, with its latest socket LGA1150 motherboard, the Z97X-Game Plus. Akasa Intros the Newton S Case for NUC

Akasa announced availability of its Newton S fanless case for Intel NUC system boards. Measuring 176.5 mm x 200 mm x 53.5 mm (WxDxH), the case is made of aluminium, its top and side panels double up as heatsink for the CPU. Eight kinds of NUC boards, including "NUC5i5MYBE," "NUC5i5MYHE," "NUC5i3MYBE," "NUC5i3MYHE," "NUC5i5RYH," "NUC5i5RYK," "NUC5i3RYH," and "NUC5i3RYK" are supported. ASRock Readies the Fanless BeeBox Compact Desktop

One of ASRock's prime attractions at this year's Computex, apart from its socket LGA1151 motherboards, will be a fanless compact desktop, the BeeBox. Driven by 14 nm Intel "Braswell" Celeron N3000 series SoC, the BeeBox will pack in 2 GB or 4 GB of DDR3L-1600 memory (expandable to 8 GB using two SO-DIMM slots), 32 GB to 128 GB mSATA SSD storage, and connectivity that includes 802.11 ac WLAN, gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth 4.0, four USB 3.0 ports (including one type-C port), and display outputs that include HDMI and DisplayPort. Measuring 110 mm x 46 mm x 118.5 mm, the BeeBox will be complete quiet, including its brick-type power supply.
