EIZO Announces New 19-inch and 26-inch DuraVision Monitors

EIZO Corporation (TSE: 6737) announced the expansion of its current line of maritime monitors to include the DuraVision FDS1904 and FDS1904T (19-inch) and the DuraVision FDU2603W and FDU2603WT (26-inch). The new lineup now provides a wider selection of monitors with high visibility and reliability for displaying ECDIS / RADAR applications. The touch panel variations, DuraVision FDS1904T and FDU2603WT, accept touch input from a bare hand or stylus and support multi-touch operation. They also feature a high resistance to dust and water droplets to minimize unintended input compared with other touch technologies.

All monitors meet the requirements for numerous classification societies for operation in ships and offshore structures including GL (Germany), BV (France), LR (UK), DNV (Norway), ABS (USA), ClassNK (Japan), KR (Korea), and CCS (China). They meet the conditions for temperature, humidity, and vibration as defined in the IEC 60945 international standard for maritime navigation and radio communication and the IP65 rating ensures they are protected against ingress and low-pressure water jets.

Iiyama Introduces Four New 17-inch 5:4 Touchscreen Monitors

Iiyama introduced four new 17-inch monitors with the 5:4 aspect ratio, featuring native resolutions of 1280 x 1024. The company is going after the kiosk markets with these displays. Among the models launched are the ProLite T1731SR-2 (and its white variant), the ProLite T1731SAW-2, and the ProLite T1732MSC-B1X (pictured in that order). The ProLite T1731SR-2 offers single-point resistive touch, the ProLite T1731SAW-2 also offers single-touch, but using the ultrasonic method, so your fingers needn't physically push against the panel (good hygiene), and the ProLite T1732MSC-B1X offers 10-point capacitive multi-touch. All four feature 1,000:1 static contrast ratio, 80°/85° (V/H) viewing angles, DVI and D-Sub inputs, 2W stereo speakers, and dimensions of 387 mm x 201 mm x 342 mm (WxDxH).

Small PC Enhances Waterproof Marine LCD Touchscreen Display

Small PC has integrated the latest touch screen technology into its rugged 24" Marine LCD Display. The new Multi-Touch LCD Display model SD240ML is Sunlight Readable and waterproof. The rugged lightweight aluminum chassis is completely sealed to dirt, dust and water. Optically enhancement processes, including glass bonding and anti-reflective coatings, improve clarity and contrast making the unit ideal for viewing in daylight and direct sunlight. Standard Video Inputs include HDMI, VGA and Composite. The PCT (projective capacitive touch) interface uses a standard USB connection. Typical operating power is less than 50 watts using a 9-36V DC input power supply. Rear mounted waterproof connectors support standard mating cables as well as the included waterproof cable set. A dual ended waterproof cable set is optionally available for applications that require sealed connectors at both the display end the connecting computer end. Screen brightness of 0-100% is controlled with a front or rear mount potentiometer. ASUS Teases New, Haswell-Powered 23-Inch All-in-One PC

ASUS has today put up a video that showcases one upcoming All-in-One PC, a model dubbed ET2321 which features a 23-inch (1920 x 1080) multi-touch IPS screen, and is equipped with a 4th generation Intel Core processor.

The slim ET2321 also packs a GeForce GT 740M graphics card, 802.11ac WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and USB connectivity, it has built-in speakers (enhanced with SonicMaster Premium audio technology), it's bundled with a desktop subwoofer, and runs Microsoft's Windows 8 (likely 8.1 at launch). No word yet on pricing or availability.

Iiyama Rolls Out the ProLite T2336MSC AH-IPS Touchscreen

Japanese display maker Iiyama rolled out the ProLite T2336MSC, a 23-inch touchscreen monitor featuring an AH-IPS LCD touchscreen with LED backlighting, and 10-point multi-touch. The screen is suspended by an armature that can let you tilt it to an ergonomic drawing/writing position. It features a ruggedized 7H glass panel to put up with heavy touchscreen usage. As a display, the ProLite T2336MSC features full-HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution, 5 ms (GTG) response time, 225 cd/m² maximum brightness, and 5,000,000:1 ACR. Display inputs include DVI, HDMI, and D-Sub. Other features include an Eco Mode, which reduces power consumption by up to 38 percent, and 2W stereo speakers that take input from 3.5 mm jacks and HDMI. The T2336MSC will launch around mid-October.

Cambridge Silicon Radio (CSR) Unveils the World's Thinnest Keyboard

Engineers at British company Cambridge Silicon Radio unveiled the world's slimmest keyboard. With a thickness of just 0.49 mm, the keyboard offers not just a compact 79-key QWERTY keyboard and a multi-touch track-pad, but can also turn itself completely into a touch surface (such as a graphics tablet). The keyboard isn't 0.49 mm throughout, but features a thick portion with its battery, electronics, and a Bluetooth low-energy transceiver, which supports Bluetooth Smart, and which lets you pair it with any Bluetooth-enabled smartphone, tablet, or PC. CSR deployed its newest CSR1010 SoC to run the keyboard, which offers latencies as low as 12 ms. Although unveiled to crowds at IFA Berlin 2013, the company didn't announce retail plans.
