BIOS

ASRock uses an AMI Bios.

All the interesting settings are grouped under "Advanced".

On the ACPI page you can enable Suspend to RAM and other power options.

The IDE page is used to change how the IDE and SATA ports on the motherboard are presented to the running system.

PCI/PNP settings and Floppy configuration are pretty straightforward or rarely used.

If you use ports like Serial port and Parallel port, this page is used to change their settings.

Here you can disable certain features of the USB controller or disable it completely.

I was surprised to see an option to automatically control the CPU fan speed based on temperature. Very nice. For monitoring, the essentials are there, enough for mainstream users.

The "Boot" menu has options to change the order in which devices are tried at startup.

Security options allow you to configure a password to enter the BIOS or to boot the system.
