A Closer Look

After the cooler is removed you can see eight thermal pads that conduct heat from the memory chips to the cooling assembly. They are quite thick, yet they do a good job.

The PCB number is exactly the same like on the X1900 XTX: 109-A52031-50.

This is the major change on the 256 MB version. Instead of the K4J52324QC-BJ11 chips from the X1950 XTX, ATI uses eight 256 MBit Samsung K4J55323QG-BC12 1.2ns GDDR3 chips.

This is the heart of the video card. ATI's award-winning R580 GPU.

ATI's good old Rage Theater chip is on the card too of course for all your video needs.

The Volterra VT1103 voltage regulator is fully supported in ATITool and Rivatuner. Voltage changes per software are no problem.
