7.2The AirLive AirTV-1000U is an interesting product and also marks a deviation from AirLive's product line-up. The company usually focuses on networking products, while this unit is clearly aimed at the everyday user. The AirTV-1000U does work and it works well, if you are not going to go all out and try out features like time shifting. Its setup is easy, it finds the channels quickly and correctly and the included software offers all the right features like EPG and scheduled recording. But, like it is the case with so many offering of TV tuner cards, USB sticks and external boxes, the software is not completely stable. Other offerings out there are smaller, have a better build quality and cost just about as much. The added value of the AirTV-1000U is the included remote control, which works if you can fire that invisible shot straight at the IR receiver on the USB stick. This is another weak spot often noted with such TV tuners.
Overall, the AirTV-1000U works and is easy to set up, but also has some flaws. So if you are in need for some networking products, feel free to go with an AirLive product, as they are unique and offer an excellent feature set, but for TV-Tuners, you may want to take a look at all the other offerings out there.
