Value and Conclusion

  • The Akasa integral ESATA can be had for around 40€ in Germany. Expect a similar price in America. This is a good price and is quite normal for an ESATA enclosure.
  • Low CPU utilization
  • Completely silent
  • IDE or SATA drives can be used
  • Good USB 2.0 read/write speed
  • All cables included
  • Stackable, consistent design.
  • ESATA speed are as expected
  • Consistent installation and packaging
  • No screw-less installation
  • No direct heat transfer (space around the hard drive)
  • IDE & SATA cables are just around 1.5m long.
9.1The Akasa integral! ESATA enclosure is a very good, solid and fast enclosure. The looks of the enclosure are very sleek and the available colors are a nice addition. The performance of the drive is quite good, while the low CPU utilization should make a good selling point as well. It is silent as it does not need to use a fan and lets the user choose between the, at times cheaper, IDE or SATA drives. The well engineered, fast and good enclosure deserves the Editor's Choice Award, as it performs great and has no shortcomings.
