We would like to thank Antec for supplying the review sample.
Antec needs no further introduction, since it has many years of successful presence in the field of power supplies. Among Antec’s numerous PSU series there is one dedicated to gamers who search for a reliable and budget PSU at the same time. We are referring of course to the High Current Gamer series, which consists of five models with capacities varying from 400 to 900 W.
In this review we will test HCG-620, the middle member of the aforementioned series. In a quick look, HCG-620 is 80Plus Bronze certified with efficiency that according to Antec reaches 88%. It can give 620 watts of continuous power, it has only one +12V rail and it’s equipped with Japanese made capacitors. Although it’s a single +12V rail PSU it has OCP for extra safety. However with 48A on the +12V rail, OCP should be >50A, an output that could easily cause problems if something goes wrong.
