A Closer Look

The wheel itself is of perfect build quality. It is lined with real leather, which has been stitched on by hand. The center of the wheel has a very high quality Porsche logo. There are button pairs on each wheel spoke. Each of these have two functions. Each side holds the connectors to plug the pedals and gear box into. The rear of the wheel has a very high quality paint job and a few air vents. These do not serve a functional purpose and are only there for looks.

You will find an easy to use clamp to secure the wheel on your desk. Simply place it onto the edge of the desk, then push the two locks in place so it will stay in place, no matter how the race is going.

To get the pedals going, you will need to place the batteries inside the compartment. There is a grey cloth strip, so that you can remove the four AA batteries easily. These fit so tightly, that you will need the strip for sure.

Assembly

The assembly of the entire unit is quite easy. Simply push the two metal bars through the two holes in the wheel base, then place the gear box of choice onto the end. The short cable connects these two units together, while the longer one is intended for the pedals on the floor.

The Porsche 911 Turbo wheel has two modes - PC and PS3. We will focus on the PC operation in this review. In this mode each button simply has a number, while the PS3 mode divides the buttons into directional and action buttons to emulate a controller.

Plugging the receiver into the PC is all that is required to get up and running. The two parts pair up automatically, but in case it does not, there is a reset button on the USB stick itself as well.
