| 9.1 | The G.Skill Trident Series is part of the manufacturer's high-end line. Even with the use of very high quality heat spreaders they manage to offer the kit at a very low price point, with tight timings for the speed advertised. Most other kits, especially those cheap ones only guarantee CL10 at 2 GHz, while G.Skill goes with CL9. For those who do not want to raise the voltage above the JEDEC speed and possibly save a few cents on the power bill, can run them at 1.5 V without any problems. The memory is not the best, if you want to tighten things down and want to run the memory at low CL settings, but considering the affordable price the memory does very well. The kit should be good for everyone who does not intend to feed them more than 1.65 V, as their overclockability simply crumbles when one sets more than the Intel specified maximum. The higher you go, the worse things get. Considering the fact, that most of you want to keep your Core i7 running for as long as possible, using such high voltages is not a recommended option anyways. That said, the memory offers an excellent price / performance ratio, so everyone looking to break that 200 MHz base clock or 2000 MHz memory speed should be satisfied with the capabilities of the G.Skill Trident 2000 MHz CL9 kit. |
