Introduction

Head-Direct is an online headphone store which sells just about everything you need in order to get a serious headphone based listening rig. Head-Direct carries a lot of interesting Asian brands. Head-Direct were until recently just a headphone reseller up until the release of their highly regarded RE-series earphones.

Today I will be taking a look at another one of their interesting earphones this time around I have the pleasure of reviewing the brand new Yuin OK1 earphones. These very special earphones can be used both as traditional earbuds and as in-ears because of their rather ingenious design.

The OK-series earphones from Yuin are the next evolution of their high end earbud series called PK. A lot has been reworked for the OK-series earphones to function well both as a canalphone and earbud. While they have had to cut some corners for it to work they generally turned out well. It is the first time I have had the pleasure of listening to a pair of hybrid style phones that is for sure. The fact that you can use them as earbuds and IEMs is definitely something unique.

Just like the old PK1s the new OK1s are a very though pair of earbuds to drive. Their impedance is a whooping 150 Ohms and definitely something you should take into consideration before buying them since you will need either a powerful headphone out from your DAP or a headphone amp to drive them well.
