Fan Noise

Even though it has such a huge power headroom to offer the OCZ GameXStream can do it without too much of noise. The fan speed changes automatically with load and inside temperature.

Value and Conclusion

  • The OCZ GameXStream 700W is going for around $150, which is quite a lot of money, but it is an investment into the future.
  • Two PCI-E video card connectors
  • Four 12V rails
  • Good voltage stability
  • 20+4 Pin connector
  • Two 12V CPU power connectors
  • All cables are sleeved
  • Clean finish, takes no fingerprints
  • High Price
9.0OCZ is dedicated to bring overclockers and gamers the best products they can get for their money. The GameXStream 700W feels like it was designed to do exactly that. There is plenty of power for even the most demanding gamer systems. Yet the fan noise never gets annoying. Another important point in my opinion is that it is standard sized. Some manufacturers oversize their PSUs to have more space, this can lead to compatibility problems with some cases.
I find the price of $150 a bit expensive, it might scare a lot of users away. But in my experience a good PSU is a worthy investment into the future. A couple of years ago I went through four PSUs which died rather quickly. Then I decided to buy a top quality brand PSU, it's still working today like on day 1 and I will take it with me when I upgrade my system. So even if you have only a midrange video card you may consider investing some money into a good PSU. When you upgrade your system you don't have to worry about the PSU upgrade. I'm convinced that the OCZ GameXStream will be able to satisfy all PC power needs for the next years. It has all the connectors like 6x SATA, 2x PCI-Express VGA and 2x +12V CPU power to do that. On top of that you get a 36 month warranty from OCZ.
Please note: This unit is identical to the be Quiet! Straightpower 700W, so if you have trouble finding the OCZ power supply locally, you can check if the Straightpower is available.
