Overclocking

To find the maximum overclock of our card we used a combination of GPUTool and our benchmarking suite.
The overclocks listed here were achieved with the default fan and voltage settings as defined in the VGA BIOS. Please note that every single sample overclocks differently, that's why our results here can only serve as a guideline for what you can expect from your card.

The overclocks of our card are 900 MHz core (6% overclock) and 1395 MHz Memory (16% overclock). These overclocks are rather slim, especially considering that we saw 9% and 25% on the HD 5770 reference card we reviewed at launch.

Even with the updated BIOS (see first page), the maximum overclocks were the same, this proves that the card is not held back by its cooling solution.

Overclocked Performance

Using these clock frequencies we ran a quick test of Call of Duty 4 to evaluate the gains from overclocking.

The actual 3D performance gained from overclocking is 4.9%.

Temperatures

Temperatures are low (38°/65°/66°), personally I would have liked to see all temperatures shifted by +15°C and got a lot less fan noise in return.

The updated BIOS (see first page) provides a much better balance between fan noise and temperatures. Even though the fan noise is greatly reduced, idle temperatures went only up marginally. The increase in load temperatures is bigger and pretty much what I would have liked to see.
