Saitek Eclipse II Keyboard

The performance of the keyboard consists of two parts. First the feel of the keys, the pressure point and responsiveness are the factor that can be compared to other keyboards. Second, there is the subjective opinion. While some like thin, notebook style keys other want they key go travel far, while having a very soft pressure point and recoil. We try to give you an objective look at what to expect of the keyboards tested, no matter what your favorite type of keys are.

Gaming Performance

The first thing I noticed is typing noise, or better the lack thereof. The Eclipse II is much quieter than the Logitech G15 and the buttons feel a bit lighter to press, with a softer pressure point. I fired up Prey and B.O.S. While Prey is a pure first person shooter, Bet On Soldier is not as fast paced and needs a lot more accuracy. The keyboard worked great and while the Logitech G15 requires a lot of strength for prolonged periods of time, the Eclipse II felt a lot better. The soft pressure point is the main reason for the low noise and ease of use.

Office & Windows Performance

Since the Saitek Eclipse II has the normal layout found on everyday keyboard, you may not only use it for gaming sessions or LAN parties, but as your main keyboard on your desk. I simply used the Eclipse II as my main keyboard for over a week. It feels great and even though I usually do not use a wrist pad, I tried it with this keyboard. The responsiveness of the buttons is quite fast and the less used buttons like backspace, space bar, tab and so forth feel great for typing longer text and essays. In fact this review has been written using the Eclipse II.
