Packaging

Like every other Shuttle Slim-PC, the DS81 comes in a plain but sturdy enough cardboard box. There is a handle on top, which will allow you to easily move the box around.

One of two sides hosts a sticker that depicts the unit's most interesting characteristics. The other side doesn't have anything worth mentioning.

Contents

Two foam spacers protect the unit well enough, and it is also shipped inside a white bag for some additional protection.

The accessories box includes the external power supply, a set of screws, a tube with some thermal paste for CPU installation, and a plastic cover for the CPU socket. The plastic cover should come pre-installed since the barebone comes with no CPU installed.

Many user manuals, written in some of the most popular languages, are included in the bundle.

The PSU is by AcBel Polytech, an OEM in the professional market segment (e.g. server PSUs). The unit can provide 90 W, which will barely cover the unit if you install a strong CPU. Shuttle should have usesd a stronger PSU with around 120 W capacity.
