A Closer Look - Inside

To gain access to the case, you need to remove a total of eight thumb screws. Four on each side panel. Due to the large size of the chassis, there is a lot of space to work with. On the bottom you will find two hard drive cages with 120 mm fans for up to six hard drives. Above that is the area for the mainboard and the external drives. There are no fancy screw-less designs and no vibration countermeasures. While such extras are very popular nowadays, this was not the case when the Temjin TJ07 was first introduced. It would be nice to see an updated version with such extras released from Silverstone.


The drive bays are simple but effective as well. Just unscrew the front and slide in your 5.25" drive, which is then secured with traditional drive screws. As mentioned before, no fancy screw-less systems anywhere to be found.


The mainboard tray is surrounded by four fans. Two of which have been placed on the tray in addition to the two large 120 mm one blowing air out of the case. This is needed as there is no power supply to transport any hot air out of the system. The two smaller fans use mainboard headers, while the ones in the case ceiling come with Molex connectors. I am not quite sure why Silverstone chose to do this, but they may have been worried, that users would not have enough mainboard headers for all six included fans. Nonetheless, it would have been better to see mainboard headers in combination with Molex adapters on all of these fans.


The top area and bottom compartment are divided by a solid aluminum plate. There are several holes to route cables through. This should improve airflow and clear up some of the cable mess. Silverstone also offers a windowed version of the case, making such sections very useful for a clean look.


Removing the hard drive cages is done by unscrewing a single thumb screw on each cage. The fans have a mainboard header used for the RPM signal and a Molex connector required for power. Drives are installed with the included screws.
