Sunbeam SATA/IDE to USB 2.0 Adapter

Performance

The system being used to test the adapter is a Compaq Presario C300 series laptop with an Intel ICH7 controller and running Windows XP. The IDE drive used for testing is a Maxtor DiamondMax10 200GB PATA133 drive, and the SATA drive is a 250GB Seagate 7200.10. Each drive was connected to the Sunbeam SATA/IDE to USB Adapter and tested with HDTach 3.0.4.0.


Read speeds for both drives were consistently above 34 MB/s for both drives. CPU utilization averaged 18% for both drives tested, though the actual range was anywhere between 11% and 22%. Below are the same results in graph form.
