Services

Thecus offers a fair amount of services on their units. Not as many as some other brands, though this certainly is not an issue.

As one could reasonably expect, the N5200 Pro supports Windows file sharing. All the shared folders can be accessed this way as long as user permissions allow it.
There aren't many predefined folders, so it's pretty much up to you to utilize the space. Of course this could become a lot of space (for instance, 4 TB with 5 1 TB disks in RAID 5. Even more with the new 1.5 TB drives) so organizing in subfolders isn't a bad idea.

FTP has been a file sharing standard since forever. And like any other NAS device this is supported. Of course with the same limitations of user access permissions.

Even though the N5200 Pro isn't overloaded with software features out of the box it does include a module manager. Users can create their own modules to include in the unit. A site dedicated to this end is: www.onbeat.dk/thecus/index.php/N5200PRO_Resources
For instance I was able to gain root access via SSH via modules. By default there is no account to access the OS directly, nor is there a telnet or SSH service.

Via the SSH and SYSUSER mods I was able to log on and extract some information from the unit.
