The cleaning tool is really an ear wax scraper. This little piece of equipment is very handy if a little ear wax slips inside the tunnel. When using in-ear-monitors I have found that it is best to avoid having any ear wax in the outer ear because the ear piece can get really nasty. So having good ear hygiene is a good thing. The amount of wax varies from person to person so you have to figure out for yourself how often you need to clean your ears and monitors.

Westone uses a right angled mini-jack connector on their UM2. This is of an extremely good and thick quality. The mini-jack casing is made of thick hard plastic which is highly durable. There might be a compatibility problem between right angled connectors and the iPhone so if you plan of using these in-ears with one be sure to check for compatibility.

The Y split cable has an adjuster that lets you decide how long the split will be. As you may already have noticed the cable consists of two cables twisted around each other. To my surprise the micro phonic disturbance with these headphones was really low. The UM2s are way better at dealing with micro phonics than my Ultimate Ears Super.fi 3 Studios.

Westone supplies two different lengths of foam tips with the UM2. This is nice because you can choose the one that fits your ears the best.

In comparison to the Ultimate Ears Super.fi 3 Studios the body of the Westone UM2 is quite big. Actually the UM2 is even thicker than the UM1 which of course is justified because the UM2 is a dual driver in-ear. When compared to the Super.fi 3 Studio you can see some major differences in the design. The UM2 has a thick and short body whereas the Super.fis features a longer and slimmer body.

One of the things that I like about the Westone's design is that they do not stick out as much as the Ultimate Ears.
