The Cooler

The Xigmatek 1283 cooler looks pretty much like your standard air cooler. It's large in size, uses heatpipes just like all the others out there. It sports three heatpipes, and a sink made for a 120mm fan. There are however, a couple of differences to this cooler...


The 1283 cooler is equipped with a large 120mm high-flow fan. The fan can move close to 100 CFM, and is rated at 20 ~ 32 dBA. Larger fans are usually a better solution as they can move more air over a far greater surface area whilst keeping acoustic signatures down.


The key feature that Xigmatek boasts on this cooler besides the Heatpipe Direct Touch design, is its massive 8 mm heatpipes. Having such large pipes should be a big benefit to this cooler where it uses the heatpipes as the primary contact between the CPU and the cooler's base.


A small "Spoiler" can be attached to the rear of the heatsink to direct exhaust air down at the motherboard for additional MOSFET cooling. For Intel compatibility, two mounts are screwed onto the base, and then clip into the four mounts on the motherboard.
