Once the software is installed a pop-up at every load of the Z-Engine comes up, prompting the user to register. The window can be disabled by checking the check box at the bottom left corner.


The software itself is incredibly easy to use. It recognizes which item is connected and displays all needed and available information for that item. In our case it shows the MERC keyboard on the right side and a rather large list of presets for games on the left side. The three hot key buttons mentioned before can be programmed as well.


Selecting a game marks all the mapped buttons. The program is very well thought out and there is practically no learning curve in using the Z-Engine. I selected World of Warcraft as it is a game with a lot of possible use for buttons and a classic first person shooter - Half-Life 2. Both keys were mapped quite logical. Expanding the library of layouts is easy and can be done trough the Zboard.com website. Currently there are over 100 game "mods" as they are called.
