Zotac Passive GeForce 8600 GT ZONE Edition

Show printable version
Manufacturer: Zotac
Author: W1zzard
Date: Jul 23rd 2007

Packaging & Contents

The packaging is colorful and communicates all important specs right on the front. Further detail and a product picture can be found on the back.

You will receive:

  • Graphics card
  • Quick Installation Guide + Driver CD
  • DVI Adapter + HDMI Adapter
  • TV Out cable
  • Audio in cable

This HDMI adapter is included with the package. It plugs into one DVI port and has an HDMI plug on the other side which carries HDMI + HDCP. If you connect the internal audio cable to the VGA card it also carries the audio signal.

The Card

The Zotac 8600 GT ZONE Edition is based on the regular 8600 GT design, but comes with a modified cooler that is running passive without fan. Please note that the whole card still needs only one slot.

On the back you find the usual warranty stickers and product information labels. The memory chips are all located on the other side.

Zotac has chosen to put two DVI outputs on the card, which is normal for this market segment. Should you need an analog VGA signal you can use the included DVI adapter. To use this card with your PC you can use the HDMI adapter to transmit HDMI+HDCP+Audio. Unlike the Radeon HD 2000 Series the audio is not generated inside the video card, but has to be fed into the card via audio cable.
