FSP's August 2012-launched Raider series of mainstream PSUs got an efficiency upgrade to 80 Plus Silver with two new models, the 650W RA-650, and the 750W RA-750. The two feature single +12V design, handling 50A on the 650W, and 60A on the 750W models. The two are ATX v2.31 and EPS 2.92 compliant, feature most common protection features, 99% active PFC, and fixed cabling. The 650W model features two 6+2 pin PCIe connectors, while the 750W one has four. The rest of the cabling is identical: 24-pin, 4+4-pin EPS, nine SATA, three Molex, one Berg. The two are cooled by a 120 mm temperature controlled fan. Along with the Aurum 92+, the two will be available from some time in February.

Tacens announced the sixth-generation of its Radix series power supplies. The series includes 550W, 650W, 750W, and 850W models; all of which feature single +12V rail designs, and over 85% efficiency (according to the company), making them 80 Plus Bronze eligible. The 550W variant features a single 6+2 pin PCIe power connector, the 650W and 750W models feature two, and the 850W model features four. All four are cooled by 140 mm Aura Pro fans. What happens when you send a PC cooling expert such as Zalman into the field of PSUs? You get PSUs with genuine innovation in cooling, which translates to quieter PSUs. Such is the case of the ZM750-HP Plus, an upper-mid range 750W PSU from Zalman. The PSU replaces aluminum cooling plates with copper heat pipes that draw heat away from hot parts (such as FETs), and onto aluminum fin stacks, which are ventilated by a large 140 mm fan. Since a lot of heat is dissipated passively by these large heatsinks, the fan has very little work to do, and so it spins at low speeds, resulting in very quiet operation.

The ZM750-HP Plus features modular cabling, enough to wire out a gaming PC with two graphics cards. The PSU is 80 Plus Silver-rated. It uses a quad 12V rail design, among which two deliver 28A each (for graphics cards), one delivers 25A (motherboard and SATA), one delivers 20A (CPU, dedicated to the EPS connector). EVGA is readying a new line of high performance power supply units (PSUs) for gaming PCs and overclocking bench setups, under the NEX Series. The company isn't new to PSUs, as it had rolled out a SuperRecord-branded 1200W PSU in the past. The NEX Series, however, is more spread out, into various price points. At least four models are confirmed, 650W and 750W models for gaming PCs, a 1000W model for overclocked gaming PCs with 2~3 graphics cards, and a bleeding-edge 1500W model for overclocking bench setups.

The EVGA NEX 1500W will include "customizable" +12V rails, we're hearing. It will probably be a mechanism with which a number of smaller 12V rails can be combined to make a larger one. It will feature a "Dummy Mode" for multiple/redundant PSU operations, an "OC Mode" that clubs all 12V rails to a single 133A one, and a very special kind of cabling. XFX announced its new, more affordable, high-wattage PSU series, the Pro Series Core Edition. These are non-modular, single 12V rail design PSUs which feature what XFX refers to as "EasyRail" technology, that ensures all components get to draw their required amount of power since a single-rail design is more accommodating compared to a multi-rail design. It is available in 650W, 750W, and 850W models. The company did not detail the connector layout of each model in detail, but we can tell that all models are SLI and CrossFire certified, and going from bottom up, support 2-way and 3-way multi-GPU configurations.

Renowned overclocker Chew* set a speed record for AMD's new value dual-core processor, the Athlon II X2 255. Based on the Regor core, the X2 255 is a monolithic dual-core chip, with just two physical cores on die, and additional L2 cache, with no L3 cache. This cuts the TDP of the chip to 65W. On the bench built by Chew*, the X2 255 reached 4800.1 MHz, with a BClk of 320.01 MHz, multiplied by 15.0. The chip's natural multiplier value is 15.5x, its stock speed is 3.10 GHz. A VCore of 1.696 Volts was set.

The processor was cooled using a Mach 1 phase cooler. The bench consisted of an Athlon II X2 255, Gigabyte GA-MA785GPMT-UD2H motherboard - another mainstream component which proved its mettle, OCZ DDR3 1600 MHz Black Edition certified memory, PC Power & Cooling 1200W PSU, and ATI Radeon HD 4890 graphics. Here are some last minute pictures of the CM 690 II chassis along with the Cooler Master GX line of PSUs and V6 CPU cooler. There has been a lot of buzz around the new case and it lives up to the hype. Upon first inspection, the case does seem to be a valid successor of the original 690. The most obvious and certainly very nice feature is the top SATA port, which allows you to plug in drives without any extra casing or the need to open the chassis up (Ed. note: no the hot girl does not ship with the chassis). Next up we have the GX series of power supplies, which will be available at 650 and 750W soon.

Last, but not least we have the V6 and V6GT CPU coolers. They differ only in the number of supplied fans and look of the top cover. The V6 holds a single fan, with the possibility of adding a second one, while the GT already ships with a pair along with an LED light on top of the cooler, which may be turned on or off. These coolers have a V shaped arrangement of heatpipes so that each of them has direct access to the air flow of the coolers.
