Acer Also Debuts the Aspire V5 and V7 Series Notebooks

At a press event held today in New York, Acer unveiled an updated and slimmed down Aspire V5 Series of notebooks and also introduced the powerful new Aspire V7 Ultrabook. The new V Series represents Acer's largest and most versatile line of mainstream notebooks with numerous models available in a variety of colors with varying screen sizes, resolutions, with or without touch and with varying performance and graphics capabilities.

"The new Acer Aspire V5 and V7 Series are all about giving our customers a wide range of performance and entertainment features from which to choose," said Sumit Agnihotry, vice president, product marketing, Acer America. "In addition to adding full high-definition panels, more powerful graphics and solid state drives to the V Series, models are up to 9 percent slimmer than the previous generation."

Acer Defines Touch and Type Experience With New Aspire R7 Notebook

At a press event held today in New York, Acer unveiled the Aspire R7, a revolutionary 15.6-inch notebook that will redefine the touch and type computing experience. AMD Brazos 2.0 Powered Acer Aspire Pictured

Here are some of the first pictures of Acer Aspire E1-421, which caught the eye of a shopper in Asia. Its most distinctive feature is AMD E1-1200APU "Brazos 2.0", driving the machine. The dual-core APU is clocked at 1.40 GHz, and packs Radeon HD 7310 graphics. Other vital components include 2 GB of DDR3 memory, and 320 GB HDD storage. A DVD SuperMulti drive handles removable storage. The notebook's 14-inch screen packs 1366x768 pixels resolution, the GPU utilizes 256 MB from the system memory. 802.11 b/g/n WLAN, and a 6-cell battery make for the rest of it.

Ivy Bridge-powered Acer V3 Start Shipping This Weekend

Acer revealed that a few Intel Ivy Bridge Core-powered models among its V3 series notebooks will start shipping first in Japan, starting this weekend (ahead of other markets). The Aspire V3-571-H78F is part of the launch. This 15.6-incher will be driven by Intel Core i7-3612QM quad-core processor clocked at 2.10 GHz (3.10 GHz Turbo Boost), 8 GB of DDR3 memory, and a sad resolution of 1366x768 pixels. This model will be priced a little over the equivalent of US $1100. The V3-571-H78F, and other Aspire V3 series notebooks will start shipping this Sunday onward.

Revised Acer Aspire S3 Pictured

Acer ironed out a lot of issues of its flagship Ultrabook, the Aspire S3, with the revised Aspire S3-391. The revised S3 was shown to public at CeBIT. To begin with, it is based on Intel's revised, more mature Ultrabook platform specification, driven by "Ivy Bridge" Core processor, and 7-series chipset, which gives it up to four USB 3.0 ports driven by the PCH. CompuBase found the new Ultrabook to be more responsive thanks to its newer processor. Slated for the middle of Q2-2012, the Aspire S3-391 is expected to be priced at 899 €.

Acer Introduces the Aspire V5 Series Ultra-Slim Notebook

Acer presents the Aspire V5 Series at the CeBIT tradeshow in Hannover, Germany. This new range of thin and light notebooks suits budget-conscious users looking for impressive performance, thermal comfort, cool style, plus convenient mobile usability.

While the current trend is towards thinner and lighter notebooks with the capability for infotainment consumption and content creation anytime, anywhere, Acer knows how to meet the consumers' expectations. The V5 Series notebooks are all 30% slimmer than the same class so they're extremely easy to handle on the go. The 11.6-inch model is less than 15 mm thin while the 14-inch model includes an optical drive and is under 21 mm and 2.1 kg; the 15.6-inch model, also with an optical drive, is thinner than 23 mm, and weighs less than 2.3 kg.

Acer Debuts the Aspire Timeline Ultra M3 15-inch Ultrabook

The new Aspire Timeline Ultra was first unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas last January; today Acer showcases the new Aspire M3 of the Timeline Ultra family, at the CeBIT tradeshow in Hannover, Germany.

The latest Timeline series is slimmer and lighter than its predecessors (measuring just 20 mm thin), without compromising its state-of-the-art performance. In fact, the new Aspire Timeline Ultra M3 raises the bar by being the first Ultrabook with dedicated NVIDIA GeForce GT640M graphics for enhanced content creation and consumption.

Ultrabooks to Make up 25-35% of All Notebook Sales in 2012: Acer

Just to give you an idea of how big an impact Intel's Ultrabook form-factor will have on the portable computing market, OEM major Acer's chairman JT Wang says that in 2012, just the second year of prominence of the platform, Ultrabooks will make up 25-35% of all notebook sales. In the first quarter since launch, Acer's Aspire S3 sold about 250,000-300,000 units. Despite uncertainty in the European market and slow sales expected in the US, Acer finds markets such as Brazil, the Philippines, Thailand and other Southeast Asia to be the prime-movers of growth for this platform.

Acer Readies the Aspire Timeline Ultra Laptops

The Aspire S5 ultrabook may be set for a Q2 arrival but Acer has something slim and portable for Q1 too, the Aspire Timeline Ultra family of mainstream notebooks. These upcoming 14-inch and 15-inch laptops are just 20 mm thick and pack an Intel Core processor, SSD/HDD storage, a slim DVD writer, Dolby Home Theater v4 surround sound, HDMI and USB 3.0 connectivity, plus a PowerSmart battery that will last for up to 8 hours per charge.

Like the S5 ultrabook, the Aspire Timeline Ultra models feature the Acer Green Instant On and Acer Always Connect technologies. And like the S5, these notebooks have not been priced.

Acer Announces the Thunderbolt-equipped Aspire S5 Ultrabook

Kicking off the CES release madness a little early, PC maker Acer has today announced its second ultrabook, the Aspire S5. Set for a Q2 arrival, the S5 is 15 mm thick, it weights under 1.35 kg, and features an Onyx Black magnesium-aluminum alloy cover, a 13.3-inch LCD screen, a chiclet keyboard, an Intel Core processor, a solid state drive, and a MagicFlip I/O port panel (found below the hinge) which includes HDMI, USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt (!) connectors.

Acer's ultrabook also includes the Green Instant On technology for super fast booting and resume, and the Always Connect solution enabling users to 'manage their multimedia and data on all their devices at anytime, anywhere'.

No word (yet) on the Aspire S5's pricing scheme.

Acer Aspire One Happy 2 Netbook Pictured

Acer unveiled its latest Aspire One netbook, the AAO Happy 2. Priced at the lower-end of the spectrum at 299 Euro, the AAO Happy 2 is an entry-level 10.1-inch netbook with conventional AAO styling, including the water-drop graphic. It is available in a variety of lid colors, including Banana Cream, Blueberry Shake, Papaya Milk, Strawberry Yogurt, as Acer puts them. It is driven by Intel Atom N570 (1 MB L2 cache, 1.66 GHz, DDR3 667 MHz, 8.5 W), or N455/N475 (512 KB L2 cache, 1.66/1.83 GHz, DDR3 667 MHz, 6.5 W) processor, with 1 GB or 2 GB of single-channel DDR3 memory.

The 10.1-inch screen provides resolution of 1024x600 pixels, and is LED-backlit illuminated. Storage is care of a 250 or 320 GB HDD, and a multi-format card reader. Connectivity is care of WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0+, and optional 3.5G HSDPA. A VGA webcam, and 6-cell 48 Wh 4400 mAh battery top up the list. The Acer Aspire One Happy 2 netbook starts at 299 Euro.

Acer Unveils Aspire One 722 Netbook

PC giant Acer is ready with a new uppish netbook, the Aspire One 722. This 11.6-inch nebook runs on AMD's Fusion C-50 accelerated processing unit (APU) clocked at 1.00 GHz, and embedding an AMD Radeon HD 6250 DirectX 11 compliant graphics processor. The 11.6-inch screen packs a decent resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. Most other features are identical to those of the Aspire One 522. The 722 feature an aquamarine color tone, with "drop ripple" design on its lid. Battery life is improved by an hour, now up to 7 hours on a full charge. Windows 7 Home Basic is the OS of choice. Price and availability details are not known.

Acer Readies AMD Fusion ''Brazos'' Powered Aspire One Netbook

Acer will be one of the first adopters of AMD's "Brazos" Fusion platform for its netbooks. The company is developing a new 10-inch Aspire One model, the Aspire One 522, which makes use of AMD Fusion C-50 "Ontario" dual-core processor clocked at 1.00 GHz, with TDP of under 9W, and AMD Radeon HD 6250 graphics embedded. The x86-64 processor cores are based on the "Bobcat" architecture, feature the latest instruction sets, while the graphics core supports DirectX 11 and UVD 3.0 video acceleration.

The 10.1-inch screen features a native resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, which can be extended onto a HDTV or a monitor using HDMI. Most other features including connectivity are similar to existing Aspire One netbooks. The battery can provide 6 hours of usage on full charge. Acer is expected to unveil this powerful netbook in early 2011.

Acer Intros Aspire One D255 Happy Netbook

Acer rolled a new variant of its recently released Aspire One D255 netbook called "Happy". The D255 Happy features a pleasant looking white and olive-green color scheme on its body. Other than this, it's the same exact on the inside as the Aspire One D255. The netbook makes use of Intel's new Atom N550 dual-core processor, has a 10.1" 1024x600 display, 1 GB of DDR3 memory, integrated GMA 3150 graphics, 250 GB HDD. Connectivity includes 10/100 Ethernet, and WiFi b/g/n. Other features include a 4-in-1 memory card reader, webcam, a multigesture touchpad, and a 6-cell, 8-hour battery. There is no word on the pricing, but we don't see why it shouldn't carry the same price as the other D255s, that's $399.
