Buffalo Japan unveiled the HD-PUSU3 line of slimline portable HDDs. Measuring 79 x 115 x 8.8 mm (WxDxH), and weighing 140 g, the drives enclose 500 GB 7 mm-thick Ultraboook-grade HDDs, which are connected over SATA 6 Gb/s, and wired to the host over USB 3.0, with a single cabling looking after power and connectivity. Available in red (HD-PUS500U3-R), black (HD-PUS500U3-B) and silver (HD-PUS500U3-S), the drives ship with Windows and Mac installers for its Turbo PC EX2 software that works to increase throughput of the drives. Buffalo Japan launched the BSH4U20U3 series USB 3.0 hubs. Available in white (BSH4U20U3WH) and black (BSH4U20U3BK), the hubs multiply an upstream USB 3.0 connection to four downstream ports, without needing an additional AC adapter as power source. The single upstream cable serves both as host connection and power source. Measuring 94 × 62 × 19 mm, it weighs about 94 g. Slated for early December, it is priced at 4,200¥ (US $51).

Buffalo Japan introduced the BSKBB15SV foldable keyboard for those who find on-screen keyboards on their phablets less than ergonomic. Measuring 149 x 95.5 x 16 mm (WxDxH) when folded and 297 x 95.5 x 7.5 mm unfolded, the keyboard features Bluetooth 2.0 keyboard-class compliance, which lets it pair with almost any modern Bluetooth-enabled smartphone, tablet, or notebook. It features an English QWERTY layout, with a total of 83 keys. The keys feature 17 mm pitch and 2.2 mm travel (stroke). It includes a complementary stand that can hold most tablets. Buffalo announced availability of the WZR-D1100H/U 802.11ac WLAN router in Japan. Due to regulatory restrictions local to the country, its wireless bandwidth will cap out at 600 Mbps when routing in the 802.11ac mode. It supports the 5.00 GHz band in addition to 2.4 GHz. In addition to cooking up some new platter-based storage, Buffalo has introduced two optical drives capable of burning a Blu-ray disc (BD-R to be exact) at up to 16x speed. Seen below, the BRXL-16FBS-BK (internal, SATA connectivity) and BRXL-16U3 (external, USB 3.0) have support for BDXL discs, and also deliver writing speeds of 12x for BD-R DL, 6x for BDXL, 2x for BD-RE, 16x for DVD-R/+R, 8x for DVD-R DL/+R DL/+RW, 6x for DVD-RW, 5x for DVD-RAM, 48x for CD-R and 24x for CD-RW.

The BRXL-16FBS-BK and BRXL-16U3 cost $255 and $322, respectively, and come with a software bundle which includes PowerDVD10 BD edition, PowerDirector 8 HE, PowerProducer 5, Power2Go 7, PowerBackup 2, InstantBurn 5 and MediaShow 5.

Buffalo has today announced a new external storage solution, the HD-LXV4.0TU3C drive featuring a 4 TB capacity and a USB 3.0 interface. This HDD measures 39 x 123 x 189 mm, it weights 1 kg and has a design enabling both vertical and horizontal use, a built-in fan, internal rubber mounts that lower vibration, AES 256-bit hardware encryption, and an eco mode that reduces power consumption by up to 97% (Buffalo claims a power draw of only 0.15 W when the drive is idle).

The HD-LXV4.0TU3C comes bundled with the Turbo PC EX2 data transfer software and costs about $458.

Buffalo Inc. has today announced the OP-HD4.0T/LS, a 4 TB replacement hard drive for the LinkStation Pro Duo and CloudStation NAS servers (and other 4 TB-supporting devices). This RAID1-ready 3.5-inch drive features a SATA interface, has a recommended price tag of about $679 and is set to start shipping at the end of this month.

Buffalo Inc. today unveiled the latest addition to its peripheral portfolio, the BSMBU13D series wired mouse which features a 1,000 dpi BlueLED laser sensor (allows operation even on transparent surfaces) and a USB connector that can be plugged in no matter the orientation (no more of this).

Buffalo's mouse measures 54 x 92 x 39 mm, it weights 60 grams, has two buttons and a scroll wheel and it will become available at the end of this month priced at about $17.4. There will be six color versions available – black, white, blue, red, yellow and pink.

Buffalo Inc. today announced two more smartphone-loving microSDHC memory cards offering 16 GB and 32 GB worth of storage space. These cards comply with the version 2.0 SD specifications, are Class 10-rated (transfer speed is at least 10 MB/s), and come bundled with an SD adapter. Both cards will become available early next month. Pricing was not revealed.

Buffalo Japan introduced a fleet of new wired and wireless mice optimized for Windows 8, thanks to gesture-recognizing touch surfaces along the top, that augment the main buttons and scroll wheels. Among the products launched are the wireless BSMBB10N series, and wired BSMBU12 series. The BSMBB10N series mice are equipped with Bluetooth and NFC tags. The NFC tag lets you configure the mouse with an NFC-equipped Windows 8 tablet or Ultrabook by simply waving the mouse close to the host device, saving you the trouble of configuring Bluetooth or WLAN settings. Unpack, wave, use - it's that simple.

The BSMBB10N series mice are available in as many as six 2-tone color options, including blue, red, green, pink, orange, and gray. Measuring 60 x 35 x 100 mm (WxDxH), the mice weigh about 58 g. The primary sensor has a resolution of 1,600 DPI, its Bluetooth reception range is 10 m. Moving on, the company also launched the wired BSMBU12, which use common USB wired connectivity but retain the touch surfaces that let you perform gestures. These mice are available in six similar 2-tone color options to the BSMBB10N. Buffalo announced a pair of new powerline networking adapters under its HomePlug brand. These include the WPL-05G300 and PL-05H, which are sold as single-units, and sets of 2. The WPL-05G300 combines a 240 Mbps powerline network adapter with an 802.11 b/g/n (up to 300 Mbps) wireless router, which supports all common security standards. In addition to its common AC plug, it features two Ethernet ports, one of which can be wired to the internet connection link, and the other as a downstream gigabit Ethernet port. The internet connection (uplink) is shared between the downstream port, other nodes connected via powerline, and the wireless network.

The PL-05H, on the other hand, is a basic powerline adapter with one downstream port. Its powerline network controller supports up to 240 Mbps bandwdith. A single unit of the WPL-05G300 is priced at 8,925 JPY (US $113), a pack of two (WPL-05G300/2) goes for 16,485 JPY (US $209.6). Buffalo Japan announced the BSKBB14 line of collapsible (space-saving) wireless keyboards for portable devices such as smartphones and tablets. The keyboard, measuring 305 x 94 x 11 mm (W x D x H), collapses into two halves, which can be bound into 153 x 94 x 22 mm (same volume, but more pocketable. It weighs 230 g, and is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that can keep it running for three months after a three-hour charge. The keyboard provides a compact 69-key QWERTY English+Japanese layout with most command keys, including Start. The key pitch is 19 mm, with 1.5 mm travel. The keyboard uses a magnetic lock to bind its two halves, a physical connection between its two halves when unfolded, and Bluetooth to communicate with the host. Three months after launching the MiniStation Thunderbolt Buffalo Inc. is preparing to release another portable storage solution supporting both Thunderbolt and USB 3.0 connectivity. Known as the MiniStation HD-PATU3S Series, this new drive will feature a sleek aluminum body (like the MiniStation Thunderbolt) and will pack a solid state drive allowing for read speeds (over Thunderbolt) of up to 382 MB/s (compared to the 109 MB/s claimed to be delivered by a Thunderbolt-enabled portable HDD).

Buffalo says the HD-PATU3S Series includes 128 GB and 256 GB models. No word on pricing yet.

Buffalo launched a 2 TB variant of its MiniStation 3.0 portable hard drive (model: HD-PCT2. 0U3-GBJ). Slated for late-July, the drive will be priced at 29,925 JPY (US $380). The drive is built into the conventional MiniStation chassis, which is available in piano-black and pearl-white finishes. The drive is completely bus-powered, and connects to the host over USB 3.0 SuperSpeed interface (backwards-compatible with USB 2.0 HiSpeed).

The drive comes pre-formatted with FAT32+ file-system, with the volume storing Windows and MacOS X installers for Buffalo Tools (disk management software) and TurboCopy (speeds up file-transfers). Buffalo Japan unveiled the MiniStation Air 500 GB wireless portable hard drive (model: HDW-P500U3). The drive combines 802.11 b/g/n (up to 150 Mbps) wireless data connectivity with USB 3.0 SuperSpeed (5 GT/s) wired data+power connectivity. When in wireless mode, the drive powers itself using an in-built 2,860 mAh lithium-ion battery, which can keep it ticking for up to 4.5 hours before needing a recharge.

The drive comes with applications by Buffalo on App Store for iOS devices, and Google Play for Android devices, which lets you access its contents securely, and configure the device to treat the drive as a storage device. Photos taken by your smartphone, for example, can be instantly transferred to the drive; you have 500 GB of space to go around with, when video-recording with your phone. The drive supports the latest Wi-Fi security standards, including WPA2/PSK, with AES encryption for data transmitted wirelessly.

Models in the series are characterized by fast USB 3.0 SuperSpeed interface, and a shock-absorbing internal drive frame that lends higher shock tolerance, although Buffalo stopped short of mentioning the exact shock tolerance figure. The new variant (model: HD-PNT2.0U3-GBJ) provides 2 TB of unformatted capacity, and supports USB 3.0, which eliminates interface bottlenecks. It relies on the same connection for power. Its feature-set includes Buffalo's Turbo PC software, which speeds up drive access by up to 2 times; and native 256-bit AES data-encryption. Buffalo Japan released a new LS-VL series home NAS model, LS-V4.0TLJ, which packs 4 TB of storage, a faster CPU, and software with a new web-access (remote-access over internet) feature. The single-drive NAS is designed for home convergence, with support for a large variety of entertainment devices such as 3D HDTVs, with support for DTCP-IP, providing recording features. Buffalo Japan launched the DiskStation HD-PATU3, a new external hard drive that features two high-bandwidth interface options, USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt, letting you use it without interface bottlenecks on both PCs and Macs.
