Palit unveiled its first custom-design GeForce GTX 780 graphics card, the GTX 780 JetStream. It uses the company's second-generation JetStream VGA cooler, which made its debut with the GTX 770 JetStream, last week. The card appears to feature a PCB design derived from NVIDIA's reference design, the JetStream cooler's base-plate fits it like a glove. The second-generation JetStream cooler uses two independent aluminum fin stacks, which draw heat from the GPU using a number of 8 mm-thick copper heat pipes, and which are ventilated by three PWM-controlled fans. The card features 3 GB of memory, so there's nothing on the reverse side to cool. Given how generously Palit factory-overclocked the GTX 770 JetStream, and the GTX 680 JetStream from the previous generation, one can expect the card to ship with decent factory-overclocked speeds.

According to the latest global graphics card market share seen by Taiwanese tech industry observer DigiTimes, Palit Microsystems and PC Partner have each surpassed ASUSTek. The two relegated ASUS to the position of third biggest graphics card vendor by volume. ASUS is a vendor-neutral graphics card vendor, selling both NVIDIA GeForce and AMD Radeon graphics cards; while Palit beat it with a predominantly GeForce-based product stack. Although Palit Microsystems is vendor-neutral on paper, it virtually stopped making AMD Radeon-based products.

Palit Microsystems runs two major brands, Palit, and Gainward, which target different global markets, and are seldom found in the same market. PC Partner, on the other hand, runs Sapphire, which focuses on AMD Radeon products, and ZOTAC, focusing on NVIDIA GeForce. Both Palit Microsystems and PC Partners also contract-manufacture graphics cards for other companies. With the surge of Palit Microsystems and PC Partner, ASUSTek is pushed down to the third place in global market-share, followed by MSI and GIGABYTE.

The base model (VCGGTX650TBQXPB) sticks to NVIDIA reference clock speeds of 980 MHz core, 1033 MHz GPU Boost, and 6.00 GHz memory; while an OC variant (VCGGTX650TBQXPB-OC) features factory-overclocked speeds of 1006 MHz core, 1072 MHz GPU Boost, and 6.00 GHz memory.

Both cards appear to be based on designs originally made by Palit. Prices of a Palit-made GTX 680 card across vendors dropped to 399€, from its X'mas shopping season peak-price of 432€, and normal price of 420€. PNY announced its XLR8 GeForce GTX 650 Ti graphics card. Based on an identical board design to Palit's offering, the card is likely originally manufactured by it. The XLR8 GTX 650 Ti features near-reference clock speeds, of 928 MHz core, and 5.40 GHz (GDDR5-effective) memory. It packs 1 GB of GDDR5 memory across a 128-bit wide memory interface. The card uses an aluminum fin heatsink that's ventilated by an 80 mm fan. Based on the 28 nm GK106 ASIC, the GTX 650 Ti packs 768 CUDA cores, 64 TMUs, and 16 ROPs. PNY's offering includes download coupons to five movies, and a 3-month subscription to E-Sports Entertainment (ESEA) Premium Video Game Network. It is priced at US $179.99.

Here are the first pictures (one a CGI drawing, the other extremely grainy) of Palit GeForce GTX 660 OC Edition and GeForce GTX 650. Palit unveiled a premium custom-design GeForce GTX 680 graphics card, called "JetStream". TweakTown got to review the card (find it at the source). The card features Palit's in-house designs for both the cooler and the PCB. The cooler consists of a sporty-looking shroud that holds three PWM-controlled fans, two 80 mm (sides) and one 90 mm (center); which ventilate a large aluminum fin heatsink that spans the entire length of the card. This heatsink relies on four heat pipes that make direct contact with the GPU, to draw heat. While the main heatsink only cools the GPU actively, a secondary base-plate heatsink cools the memory and VRM. The fans in the cooler are LED-lit.

Moving on to the PCB, Palit employed a 6-phase VRM, which makes use of high-grade chokes and DrMOS (driver-MOSFET) components, to power the card. The card draws power from 6+8 pin PCIe power connectors. The card is also factory-overclocked, with the Core (base) clock pushed up to 1085 MHz (from 1006 MHz reference); and Core (boost) upped to 1150 MHz (from 1058 MHz). The memory, on the other hand, has been stepped up to 1575 MHz (6.30 GHz GDDR5 effective), up from 1502 MHz (6.00 GHz GDDR5 effective) reference. It doesn't end there, Palit assures 10% overclocking performance, 9 dB quieter operation (than reference design), and 8°C lower temperatures. NVIDIA released its newest graphics card model specifically for the winter shopping season, the limited edition GeForce GTX 560 Ti 448 cores. Not only is this a limited edition launch, but also targeting only specific markets in North America and Europe. This includes the United States and Canada in North America; and the UK, France, Germany, Russia, and the Nordics in Europe. The new card is based on the 40 nanometer GF110 GPU instead of the GF114 that the regular GTX 560 Ti is based on. This allows NVIDIA to add 64 more CUDA cores (448 vs. 384), 25% more memory (1280 MB vs. 1024), and a 25% wider memory bus (320 bit vs. 256).

The new limited edition GeForce GTX 560 Ti 448 cores features clock speeds identical to those on the GeForce GTX 570, at 732 MHz core, 1464 MHz CUDA cores, and 950 MHz (3.80 GHz effective) GDDR5 memory. Since it’s based on the GF110 board, this new card is also capable of 3-way SLI, something the regular GTX 560 Ti isn’t. The card draws power from two 6-pin PCIe power connectors. Display outputs typically include two DVI and a mini-HDMI. Add-in card vendors are free to design their own graphics cards based on this chip, and so expect most GTX 560 Ti 448 core cards to look similar to non-reference GTX 570 ones. Palit unveiled a new limited-edition GeForce GTX 560 Ti based non-reference design graphics card, the Palit GTX 560 Ti Twin Light Turbo. The card's design is based on a black colored PCB (Palit uses a red-colored one on its regular GTX 560 Ti cards), and a unique GPU Cooler design. The heatsink follows essentially the same structure as the one featured on Gainward Phantom cards, in which heat is conveyed to the aluminum fin stack by four heat pipes, but the fans that ventilate the card are located on the side of the heatsink facing the PCB, rather than on top of it. The fans draw in air from the heatsink. Palit claims that the cooler has a noise output of less than 10 dBA.

The clock speeds of the card are not given out, yet. Like every other GTX 560 Ti, this card makes use of a 40 nm GeForce Fermi 114 GPU, is DirectX 11 compliant, packs 384 CUDA cores, and makes use of 1 GB of GDDR5 memory across a 256-bit wide memory interface. Display outputs include two DVI, and one each of D-Sub and HDMI (full-size). There is one SLI connector that allows 2-way SLI with any other GTX 560 Ti card, and power is drawn in from two 6-pin PCIe power connectors.
