HP today announced its first Chromebook, widening the company's extensive PC and workstation portfolio and expanding its multiOS approach to offer customers more choices.
The HP Pavilion 14 Chromebook boasts a display that's approximately 2 inches wider (diagonally) than any other Chromebook in the market today. It provides a fast and easy gateway to a seamless Google experience with popular products like Search, Gmail, YouTube, Google Drive and Google+ Hangouts for multiperson video chat as well as access to apps in the Chrome Web Store. HP today announced availability and pricing details for its new lineup of consumer and business PCs that are designed to work with Windows 8.
The new HP products, ranging from stylish notebooks and desktops to a tablet, leverage premium materials and a purposeful design philosophy to deliver a distinct HP look and feel.

HP Pavilion dv6 Gets AMD Trinity APU
HP unveiled a new variant of its Pavilion dv6 15.6-inch notebook driven by AMD A8-4500M quad-core APU (model: dv6-7010us). The A8-4500M packs four x86-64 cores clocked at 1.90~2.80 GHz, 4 MB total cache, and Radeon HD 7640G integrated graphics. The APU is backed by 6 GB of dual-channel DDR3 memory. A 750 GB hard drive and DVD SuperMulti drive handle storage. The 15.6-inch screen packs 1366 x 768 pixels resolution. Connectivity includes gigabit Ethernet, 802.11 b/g/n WLAN, and Bluetooth. Most other features are identical to the Intel-driven dv6t-7000. Sweetening the deal is the price. HP China has now put up for sale on its website the 14-inch Pavilion dm4-3110tx Beats Edition laptop which is equipped with one 3rd generation Intel Core processor, namely the quad-core 2.1 GHz Core i7-3612QM. In addition to packing an Ivy Bridge 22 nm CPU, the laptop has an LED-backlit (1366 x 768) HD BrightView display, 4 GB of RAM, a 750 GB hard drive, a DVD writer, and an AMD Radeon HD 7570M 1 GB discrete graphics card.

HP Unveils Its First 27-inch All-in-One PC, Performance Desktop, New Monitors
HP today unveiled new consumer PCs and commercial displays that offer consumers and professionals superb design, performance and convenience. Launched in advance of the 2012 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the new lineup includes:

AMD FX 8100 Surfaces on HP Pavilion Desktop
AMD's third 8-core desktop processor model is available through OEMs such as HP. Called the AMD FX-8100, this chip is the most affordable among the available FX-8000 series chips (that's FX-8120 and FX-8150), and according to HP's component pricing, about $80 cheaper than the FX-8150. The AMD FX-8100 is a base model processor option for HP Pavilion HPE h8z desktop. It can be configured to have FX-8150 instead, for $80 over the base price of the desktop, of $830.
The FX-8100, like every other FX Series processor, features an unlocked base clock multiplier to help with overclocking. The chip is clocked at 2.80 GHz, with TurboCore technology, all eight cores can overclock themselves to 3.10 GHz. To handle tasks that aren't multi-threaded, the chip can overclock some of its cores (up to four of them), all the way up to 3.70 GHz. Like every other FX-8000 series chip, the FX-8100 packs 16 MB of total cache (8 MB total L2 + 8 MB L3), features an advanced instruction set of AVX, AES, XOP, SSE 4.2/4.1/4a, and a system interface of 5.2 GT/s with HyperTransport 3.1.Source: CPU World

HP today revealed a redesigned consumer notebook PC portfolio that enhances the user experience with sleek looks and the latest technologies. With updates across the HP Pavilion line, the new notebooks draw inspiration from culture, art and fashion, and build on HP's MUSE (materials, usability, sensory appeal and experience) design philosophy. Introduced last May, MUSE includes a mix of materials such as metals, alloys and plastics; easy-to-use features for improved usability; a blend of artisan elements for sensory appeal; and intuitive features for simple experiences.

HP Unveils First AMD Neo-based Notebook
In a surprise move, HP announced the industry's first notebook based on AMD's upcoming Neo series processor. This is the first product to be based on the AMD Yukon mobile platform. It features an AMD Neo processor clocked at 1.60, which is a single-core CPU code-named Huron. HP seems to have tried hard to push this into the full-fledged notebook segment, keeping it away from the ULPC tag, to serve as a proper "launch vehicle" for the Yukon platform.
Talking about the notebook itself, called HP Pavilion dV2, it features a 12-inch LCD screen with a native resolution of 1280 x 800 px with LED backlit illumination. Apart from the AMD Neo, it features up to 4 GB of RAM, AMD discrete graphics and storage space of up to 500 GB (depending on the variant). Other features include gigabit Ethernet and WiFi connectivity, an external BluRay drive (optional) and an ExpressCard slot. All this enclosed in a durable magnesium-alloy based chassis. GPU Defect Plague Spreads to Desktops, HP Slimline First Blood
Over the last year or so, there have been a disturbingly high number of manufacturers reporting defects with NVIDIA graphics processors, on the mobile front. Up until recently, even some Macbooks have been diagnosed with problems related to NVIDIA GPUs. The latest victim of this, is a desktop line: HP's Pavilion Slimline series. The PC major is reporting as many as 38 models of desktop PCs under the Slimline series.
HP on its part has implemented a Limited Warranty Service Enhancement that provides for a motherboard replacement at no charge for 12 months from the date your one-year Hardware Limited Warranty expires or until December 31, 2009 (whichever comes first). Owners who may have paid for repairs relating to this issue, could contact HP for reimbursement. Repairs on HP's part could include a complete replacement of the systems' motherboards, since the graphics processor (read: IGP) is embedded on to the motherboard. NVIDIA's Director of Public Relations EMEAI, Luciano Alibrandi told PC Pro, that they were working closely with HP to determine if/how the failures were related to NVIDIA chipsets.Source: PC Pro

HP Pavilion HDX Now With NVIDIA GeForce 8800M GTS
Hewlett-Packard has updated this week the HP Pavilion HDX entertainment and gaming notebook with a new graphic card option. The Pavilion HDX, which was available only with the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600 XT 256MB video card, is now also configurable with the NVIDIA GeForce 8800M GTS 512MB GPU. This large 15.3-pound laptop features a 20.1-inch display with up to 1920x1200 (1080p) resolution, and is based on the Intel "Santa Rosa" platform with an Intel Core 2 Duo or Core 2 Extreme processor. The notebook features up to 4GB of system memory, up to 500GB hard drive storage capacity, HD DVD and Bly-Ray optical drive options, an integrated TV tuner, and four Altec Lansing speakers accompanied by a subwoofer. HP Updates Notebook Range
HP has quietly updated its range of notebooks just in time for Christmas. The new models feature improvements such as more video memory, Blu-ray drives and a few minor design changes. Buyers can now choose up to a 512 MB 8600 GS graphics processor with certain models, and have the option of a Blu-ray multi-drive which doubles up as a DVD burner. The new notebooks, all part of the Pavilion range, are the 14.1” dv2700t, dv2700tbw and dv2700tse, the 15.4” dv6700z, dv6700zt and dv6700ztse and the 17” dv9700t and dv9700tz.
