I know that's hopelessly optimistic, but Windows RT was so cluelessly out of touch with how people use computers, I don't think it's possible to miss the mark any wider than that if they tried!
I'm optimistic, especially for the Surface Pro line up which has been very stale and could use the new cpu to bring new life into the product line
I hate being so cynical when it comes to Microsoft but nearly every damn change is anti-consumer - sacrificing privacy, usability, autonomy, control, or your freedoms just so they can push their own corporate agenda in morally-dubious, likely-illegal ways that are just BEGGING for yet another MS vs <insert economic zone authority> mega-lawsuit for another x billion dollar fine.
Even simple stuff like the UI is an assault on expectations and prior knowledge. It's fine for us power users who are used to Microsoft fettling with where things are and moving shit around the GUI with no real reason to do so, but for a lot of people, all this does is generate a whole bunch of questions "where have they moved this stupid setting to now?", inevitably resulting in a start menu search that will push a bunch of ads for store apps and web results of little value to the actual OS settings/feature query.
