The Aorus RGB SSD is a solid-state drive in the M.2 2280 form factor, launched on April 4th, 2019. It is available in capacities ranging from 256 GB to 512 GB. This page reports specifications for the 512 GB variant. With the rest of the system, the Aorus RGB SSD interfaces using a PCI-Express 3.0 x4 connection. The SSD controller is the PS5012-E12-27 from Phison, a DRAM cache chip is available. Aorus has installed 96-layer TLC NAND flash on the RGB SSD, the flash chips are made by Micron. Please note that this SSD is sold in multiple variants with different NAND flash or controller, which could affect performance, the "Notes" section at the end of this page has more info. To improve write speeds, a pseudo-SLC cache is used, so bursts of incoming writes are processed more quickly. The cache is sized at 26 GB, once it is full, writes complete at 388 MB/s. The RGB SSD is rated for sequential read speeds of up to 3,480 MB/s and 2,000 MB/s write; random IOPS reach up to 360K for reads and 440K for writes.
At its launch, the SSD was priced at 120 USD. The warranty length is set to five years, which is an excellent warranty period. Aorus guarantees an endurance rating of 800 TBW, a good value.

Same Drive

This section lists other SSDs in our database using the exact same hardware components

Notes

Drive:

This is the 2nd revision, the first revision that came out had those following components:
- 4x Toshiba BiCS3 Packages (64-Layers 256Gb and 512Gb Dies)

Also, the first revision had a slightly smaller pSLC Cache of 14-15GB but had a higher sustained write speeds of ~ 600 MB/s

Controller:

2 main cores using Cortex-R5 clocked at 667 MHz with CoXProcessor technology (one additional dual-core) Cortex-R5 clocked at a lower clock for better efficience.
