The Pirate Bay is back up, and in the Netherlands

Shortly after being raided by Swedish Police, The Pirate Bay fled from Sweden, and in the short time of a few days, has reestablished itself in the Netherlands.

Looks like the whole deal was a spoof. No doubt Pirate Bay will get what they deserve in the end.

SandmanDude, chill out. You don't have to promote piracy to acknowledge it's existance. You wouldn't criticise a news channel for reporting a big bank heist, saying that they are encouraging criminal behavior, would you? It's news, and this is a news site.
Reporting that a major pirating site was raided is news. Reporting that it's back and posting a direct link to it, IS NOT.

Surely news can be classed as anything that's informative... this informed me the website was back. Do you have any pirate software?

Anyway, Torrenting isn't alway illegal. There is plently of legal software shared on there, particularly open source like linux. And the site seems to be down again.

Thepiratebay is just as legal as google. It tracks locations of file sharers, its none of their business what those people are sharing. I download plenty of legit stuff through bittorrent, its an extremely efficient networking tool.

:wtf: It's called the ---> PIRATE <--- Bay. They aren't doing this for tracking shareware and open source. You may download plenty of it, but the other 99.99% of the site is tracking illegal software.

By your logic, if I provide burglars with all of their supplies, schematics of vaults, buildings etc. I shouldn't be held responsible, because that's all totally legal. Don't try to argue this, because you're case is thin at best.

Yeah, it is. If you post a story about something happening, then it is reversed, it is only good reporting ethics to report about the reverse also.

Posting a direct link makes no difference, it isn't like the site's URL is hard to figure out, it isn't some random IP address or anything. You just have to take the name of the damn site they are reporting about and put .com at the end, not all that hard. Do you honestly think anyone wouldn't be able to figure out the URL just by reading the headling? I me anyone other then you because obviously you think it makes a difference if they directly link to it or not, so you obviously don't have the intellegence to put the pieces together.

I'll argue that. The pirate bay is not providing nearly all that, and that anolgy is crap. Using your burglar anology though. It would be like a burglar doing all the work to get the gold out of the valt, then spreading it around the world and the pirate bay is simply providing directions on how to find it. Is the gold still stolen? Yes, but the pirate bay's role in the whole thing isn't nearly as bad as you make it out to be.

Let's get personal with the replies now, because we all know intelligence is spelled with an "e" right? And before you start nitpicking my previous post, I'm aware that "you're" should be "your". I'm done!
