SIS starts shipping PCI-E chipsets

According to SiS, volume shipments of its Intel P4 PCIe-enabled core-logic chipsets, the SiS649 and SiS656, will begin in the second half of December.

Both parts have the following specifications in common:
  • Support for Pentium 4 & Celeron
  • HT support
  • Support for both AGP and PCI-Express
  • 2 PCI-E x1 ports
  • DDR2-533/DDR-400
  • 4 SATA ports with RAID0, 1, 0+1, JBOD
  • 8 USB 2.0 ports
  • 2 ATA133 ports
  • 10/100/1000 Mbit Ethernet
The lower-end part SiS649 is Single Channel Memory, Max. 2GB, No ECC.
The SiS656 is Dual Channel, Max. 4GB, ECC memory is supported.
