Sure has been a while since they have upgraded the G5X series (15" model). I still have ye olde G53JW.

yeah, wish they went for a more conventional case design.. Sure, keep the same lines and rugged design, but please do get rid of the ugly screen lid! Waiting for the same specs for a MSI equivlent... just because I prefer the aesthetics!

I've been meaning to replace my good old ROG G50VT for a while now, I added a 128GB SSD as a boot drive to it, and it made things considerably faster than the old 5400 RPM 320GBs HDD, which I kept for games, but I'm afraid the old lad just doesn't cut it anymore...

This seems like a fantastic replacement option, an i7 IB CPU coupled to a GTX 660M should be able to drive that beautiful 1080p panel at full details in most current games, and a 15.6" form factor is the ideal size to me, I was looking at the specs and can add a Momentus XT hybrid drive for only $25 more, and couple that to an SSD boot drive in the future for an optimum performing system. Even adding a bluray drive option doesn't drive the cost over $1,600.

The price is not bad for what you get, been looking at the Alienware R14 for a while, but it doesn't offer any IB and Kepler options yet, and adding a bluray drive and a few extras will drive the price through the roof. I think Asus has a winner here.
