Diablo 3 Open Beta Weekend Starts Today

Today Shacknews is reporting that Diablo III will be open to the public for beta testing. The open beta weekend begins this afternoon at 12:01pm Pacific, then will run until 10:00am on Monday, Blizzard explains in a Diablo blog post. All you need to play is a Battle.net account. You can download the client in advance, so you don't miss a second. The beta is relatively small, packing the first part of Diablo III's first act, but you will be playing Diablo III. Unlike proper closed beta testers, open beta players won't receive 'Beta Bucks' to spend in the auction house and cannot post in the beta forums.

Diablo III launches for PC and Mac on May 15. The closed beta test will wrap up on May 1.

I ran the game on max settings with zero lag, It ran smooth as butter even in heavy horde fighting. I probably will end up getting the game.

FrickThis is one of the upsides imo. Why would you want to move around the camera all the time?
Hmm... If u use just one eye and no neck like a frog, then the world is 2d and only one direction to look at things. I prefer to look around and explore, 2d is just too much restriction.

I enjoyed Diablo2 and torchlight and many other games.
Just because i love dioblo2 does not mean whatever blizzard must be absolutely perfect.
My complaints is simply pointing out there are lots of OBVIOUS improvement to be made.
Something like a hardcore mode as a "feature" just shows you how dumb/uncreative blizzards are.

FrickI tried Torchlight and was not impressed at all. Felt exactly like Diablo 2 but not as good.
I get the feeling that you feel that torchlight copied diablo. Actually, the original team that made diablo made torchlight. Including the soundtrack writer. This means they copied themselves and made it better.

To me, torchlight is the next step and diablo3 is too conservative and backwards.

I didn't know that, thanks! But I still didn't like it.. Dunno why really, it just felt so shallow for some reason. Or I wasn't in the mood for it.

Another vote for "Glad it's locked camera"! Otherwise, it just wouldn't be Diablo to me :)

Some games can make changes like this, and it's for the better (Fallout 3), but Diablo isn't one of them IMO.

The first part I agree on but then you mention Fallout 3 and you just break my heart. YOU BREAK MY HEART. :(

I would have happy with another overhead Fallout as well. However, I believe it's change over to first person added to the experience and depth of immersion.
