S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Cancelled

With game studio GSC Game World shutting down, all hope for the much anticipated addition to the franchise, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is lost. The studio abandoned development of the title. It said in a statement: "The reason we cannot continue with the development of Stalker 2 is we and our new investors we unable to come to an agreement with the IP rights owner. The entire team that was working on Stalker is now working on a new project called Survarium. We are so grateful for the support over the years and despite our best efforts we have to move on from Stalker which is as hard for us as it is for you. However, we feel that our new studio and project will be something unique and fill the void left by S.T.A.L.K.E.R. as well as add a lot more!"

Sad day

I loved the first one SoC even with it bugs. I didn't want to stop playing it. Clear Sky was good but playing it once was enough. I didn't get too far into Pripyat then went to playing something else.

DEFEATEST
Ya this is really sad news as STALKER was really one of the great FPS games in the past 10-15 years. I have never been more scared or excited to explore or just down right shittin' my pants in a corner with like 3 bullets in a gun that constantly jams in the pitch black- kinda game. Has there ever been a better flash light in a game? THERE HAS TO BE A WAY!!!!!

one sad panda.......

Bummer.
Would've been interesting to see what had become of it.

Vanilla Stalker - SoC was kinda "just ok".
It was fun but it was plagued by several issues that seriously crippled the atmosphere. But once you modded the game (installed Oblivion Lost)... Oh boy... Total turn around from "just ok" to "utterly and completely awesome".
:O

Shadow of Chernobyl + Oblivion Lost = GOLD.

Oblivion Lost fixed all that was bad in the vanilla and added so much more that the result was almost a different game.

Now, I just might install it once again and try that "Complete" -mod.

Completely Bonkers
Stalker was one of the "best" "real-life" shooters out there. What do I mean by "real-life"? The maps were based very closely on real world places, and the graphics and lighting are very true to life. If you have ever been to Eastern Bloc or Russia you will recognise the "colour and light" of the landscapes. It reminds me very much of my time in Eastern Europe in the 90s. It also has a relevant story backdrop. Loved it. Hammered my system though!

When I upgrade my GPU I think I will give the Complete and Oblivion Lost mods a go.

??

It's a finished mod. There really aren't that many updates. It's not a constant "work in progress", it's just a mod. The updates were just to tweak problems found.

Replaying call of pripyat + Atmosfear 3.
Bjorn, I don't know if you're subscribed to the clubhouse, but I just came across a mod for COP called MISERY. Looks SERIOUS. Uses Atmosfear 3.. well, here: "• Unique version of AtmosFear3 with specially designed sky textures, weather behavior as well as sun and god rays. The weather usually cycles between cloudy and more cloudy, so the sky only rarely ‘opens up and breathes’.
