EK Water Blocks Announces De-Lidded Ivy Bridge CPU Cooling Solutions

All enclosed screws are made of high-quality nickel plated brass. EK recommends the normal orientation of EK-Supremacy water block for optimal results! Using the water block rotated by 90° may result in less than optimal cooling.

In fact it is intended to be used by expert users only as removing the CPU IHS is a delicate process. EK Water Blocks will not be held responsible for any failed removal operation that resulted in death of the computer component! Also worth considering is the fact that removing the IHS from the Intel CPU will result in voiding your warranty. Please do not try to remove IHS from previous generation Intel Core i3/i5/i7 CPUs (such as Sandy Bridge, Clarkdale and Arrandale) as the core (die) is soldered to the IHS on aforementioned models. Any attemps to remove the IHS from such processors will surely result in irreparable damage to the CPU.

I think EK went a step ahead with this one. This wont sell by the mass but its one of those products that exist just to separate the company from the others. Who makes special products for the most demanding and daring users? EK! So they must be the best...

After de-lidding and seeing a drop of 15c, I now want to go this one step further and go direct-die.

I even bought a spare Foxconn socket 1155/1156 bracket to shave enough off the top so the water block would make contact.

Yes you can do that all pll i did.I Suggest that you remove the processor which cover very carefully inserted into his socet LGA 1155 (my 3770K). was very easy to damage the pins. I suggest that the processor adheres to the adhesive tape on the sides that would not move out of the bay. Imoj EK CPU block is a reduced temperature of 60 degrees Celsius at 5 gh. Use: The Maximus extrime, EK Suprime LTX Nickel CPU Block. D5 pump Ek coolant, 2x 140 x 55 EK radiator.2 FENS 1300th on Svich 810 installed below ...:rockout:

omg. What I understand here is that the google translator is not so good but I think it is understandable that I removed the CPU cover and installed in a system. Merely calls for caution as it can easily damage the pins. Paste processor in its soket with adhesive tape on the side prevents to be escaped when being installed. indeed for many it is necessary to show frame by frame in order to be what feeds what to do. speak from experience as a processor without lid easily gets out of bed. (socet).

I get it. Because you are removing the clamp that holds the cpu down, the cpu can come out of its socket. Or even move around enough to bend pins.

The PCB fits pretty snug in the pastic pin housing. Carefully screwing the retaining screws on the waterblock should prevent pin damage... the most important thing is maintaing even pressure.

The metal retainer bracket only holds down two pressure points on each side of the IHS, so I can't imagine much of an issue with 4 posts and pressure on the top of the die with a water block holding it in place.
