Eurocom Announces Sky X9E VR-Ready Gaming Notebook

Eurocom is launching the Sky X9E Extreme Edition unlocked, high performance "desktop Laptop" with Intel Core i7-6700K, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980, 64 GB DDR4 memory and a beautiful 4K 17.3" display. Eurocom customers now have an ultra-high performance, fully upgradeable mobile platform that they have utmost freedom to control and to push it to the limits.

Equipped with the most powerful components ever assembled in a laptop form factor and now with the unlocked capability to push the performance to otherworldly levels. Eurocom provides an unlocked BIOS along with an Overclocking Seminar with overclocking expert Mr. Fox so users have a quick rundown on how to best push their new EUROCOM Sky X9E to the limits as well as setting limitations and safe guards for safe operation.

The EUROCOM Sky X9E is Virtual-reality ready, the beefy hardware of the Sky X9E blows away the minimum specs you will need to run the incredibly immersive experience and 360 degrees games and videos with an Oculus Rift of HTC Vive.

The EUROCOM Sky X9E is the unlocked edition of the X9 chassis and supports the latest, BIOS unlocked 6th generation Intel Core i7 processors up to 6700K due to the desktop Z170 chipset and LGA 1151 CPU socket. Four SODIMM are supported for up to 64 GB DDR4 2400 and 2133 memory to pair with a high performance, unlocked desktop i7 processor.

true but i would think its the gpu at over 200 watts that will be causing the real cooling problems.. running balls out the entire machine will probably heat up a fair bit.. a bit toasty if its sat on your lap.. he he

meh.. i would rather play minecraft on a hololense with it

i wouldnt even think about getting vr until the second generation to be honest because that much gpu is pushing it as it is and the next gen of visors are going to use two screens on top of each other and have even lower latency to make it more immersive and take away motion sickness

all i have to say is when i buy a laptop i like it to be military grade tough with good battery life and have beast audio because i take them to the beach and they get beat up hard.

First time I see bullshit like this in a PR statement and it's not a lie hehe. I dunno about overclocking this thing but if it can handle the default speeds without overheating too much this thing is insane.

It has nothing to do with Asus, afaik Eurocom, like most "custom" laptop companies, use Clevo laptops. They are the OEM behind this and they are pretty decent. I've never heard people complain too much about Clevo build quality or anything like that...

I have this exact laptop, but with a "Sager" name on it. GPU doesn't get too hot. CPU gets a tiny bit hot and will thermal throttle unless undervolted. At best, I got it to 4.2GHz with a tiny undervolt and no throttling. If anyone's interested, I can run some tests.

Edit: I just slung it on to my back. Yes, it's very heavy.

Hello thought I'd pop my head in to say that it's turbo boost that causes over heating issues in these laptops.
Disable turbo boost if your bios supports it or in advance power options set max CPU utilisation to 99%.

I use this on my laptop that uses desktop 4790k runs at 4ghz and never thermal throttles.

With turbo boost enabled it would thermal throttle even running games due to the voltage increase.

Only the Turbo clock speeds.

When Turbo turns on with a desktop class processor the voltage is increased the tiny heatsinks in a laptop just can't keep up TJ max is hit very quickly and processor downclock to around 1.7ghz ( with my cpu anyway) so I actually get far better performance running with Turbo disabled.
The heatsinks in my laptop are fairly robust as well.

Temps are awesome with the CPU delidded and Liquid Ultra on the die and IHS. And it overclocks like a bat out of hades with the modded firmware. Pretty sweet for single GPU.
