White Playstation 3 on eBay

Getting hold of a PS3 can be hard enough by itself wherever you live, but with the only color you can get your hands on being black at the moment this custom console is even rarer. If you want to be special and have the chance to boast then you could put a bid in for this white PS3. It has been very carefully painted with gloss paint by PS3center.com and looks very different (plus controllers might be hard to get hold of). When I write this the price is at $1,425 with less than five days left. You can expect that price to surge over the last two days if it sells like other PS3s on eBay.

I hope they offer good warranty, since Sony won't give it if you paint your console. Then again Sony isn't known for good service as far as I know so it's no big loss.

Apparently, they don't offer a warranty. How stupid.
On Dec-26-06 at 08:22:03 PST, seller added the following information:

New rule : Bidders with rating of 5 and under will not be accepted. I reserve the right to cancel any bids from eBay users with a rating of 5 and lower.

I received many questions asking is the warranty is voided. I do not know myself for sure. Please contact Sony if you have any questions on that matter.

For the sake of making more money they should offer a 1 year warranty. Then if it breaks they can fix it or replace the innards themselves (out of the large sum of money they make). However, if the PS3 is anything like the PS2 problems will develop in year two not year one, so they would probably be fine giving it a 1 year warranty...

I think it does look nicer than the black one, but the PS3 is so huge that I don't think it can look that good. The Xbox 360 is the most attractive console IMO, and possibly the best value price: performance wise depending on which extra features you want.

That is very nice looking. I havent known sony to offer poor service, so I mean, thats just crazy in my opinion. Though, without a warranty, that is kind of stupid to get unless you just have tons of cash!

Some gaming stores offer a year warranty on these after sony's warranty ends. The store actually takes the nut shot if the system breaks after the warranty. Sony only has a 3 month warranty with the console which is entirely retarded. That just goes to say how sony backs their products. Don't get me wrong I love Sony just not how the handled the way they made and manufactured these PS3's (IMO :D ) Also, my brother got a hold of TWO of these things here in town and saved one for himself and the other is currently on ebay. Lucky sob...

Oh, and the white one is SEXY!!!!!!!

Thinking about it, to get such a good finish they probably took the console apart anyway, which would have voided it warrantee. I'm not an expert on paint, but I expect it would take a lot of effort to get such a nice appearance without taking it apart - I could be wrong though.

Edit: and I thought the warrantee was for a year, not three months?

Wouldn't be suprised if they change that soon - the Wii has one year and M$ have just increased the 360 to one year. I know games are normally only covered for 90 days (not sure how they would go wrong without being damaged if they worked when you bought them).

Exactly but that what the warranty brosure (sp) said. He got a extended 1 year warranty from the store he bought it from so...

P.S. Played it and wasn't impressed! LOL

Why would you spend an extra $1500 for a paint job? You could just buy a PS3, and take it to a paint shop who would do just as good of job, for probably $200.

I don't know he got that from because on page 13 of the Safety and Support brochure that comes with each Playstation 3 it is covered by Sony for One Full Year parts and labor.

Yeah, me neither, but you have to consider that it was just released. Take a look at the 360. Most of the newest games look better than the ones that released around the time of 360's launch. The same thing is likely to happen with PS3, it just takes time for the developers to figure out how to code for a new console properly.

One thing that I have noticed about the PS3, however, is the fact that everytime I see one in the stores, it's frozen. To be fair, it probably doesn't help that the stores have the things in non-vented enclosures.

Every product i've owned from sony has died a week after the warranty expires (excluding the PS1). They make products with the worst reliablity i've ever seen. You have to pay me to own something sony again and in this case....almost a grand.

i still have an original ps2 from when they first came out and it hasnt had a problem that a cleaning didnt fix. i also have a camcorder, vaio laptop, and a psx from 1994. all still run just fine as long as you take care of them and clean them once in a while... could it be you just dont take as good of care as you need to?

I played Resistence Fall of Man, and IMO thats sony's "sell point game" and the graphics are just horrible! They had sooooo much time to create and ultilize "360's ethics" and or coding from, for example; Gears Of War that they could have made the Game a lot better. I have played other games on the PS3 that have better graphics, but in my eyes they looked the same and compared to 360's graphics. GoW hit 360's with a "jizzbomb" and thats one reason why I wanted 360. To name a couple more GRAW and GRAW 2 that will be coming out soon will definitely increase 360's sale. However, i'll admit Resistence Fall of Men online with 40 multiplayer experience is really good especailly having no lag issues. I dunno I am just really happy with my purchase...

I still got my PS2 that was only cleaned on the outside, never on the inside (just ike a quick dusting down), and i never had any problems....but its probably because over here in AUS, the products are released a lot later, and dont have as many problems :p
