AMD Losing sales in USA, Barcelona may be delayed

With all the recent and not-so-recent processor releases Intel has made, and all the recent-but-buggy NVIDIA graphics card releases, it's no wonder that AMD (which owns ATI) is losing some of its market share. All AMD can do to try and maintain market share in the USA is to continue to cut prices of existing products, while Intel and NVIDIA enjoy the performance crowns. However, all this is bound to change when AMD unleashes Barcelona. AMD told TGDaily that the Barcelona processor core is on schedule. However, to ensure enough stock at launch, we may not see the Barcelona core until Q4 2007, or maybe even Q1 2008. AMD is likely to regain some graphics card market share back with the HD 2x00 series.

Q1 of 2007? by then intel will have 45 nm chips. intel can just turn up the speeds a little, unless barcelona really kills penryn. and i don't think barcelona is going to be able to launch at 3 ghz + speeds, i bet if barcelona starts catching up, intel is going to roll out a new, better stock cooler for the high end chips then clock toe 3 ghz +

Pure speculation at this point. I believe AMD will have enough stock to role out the new Barcelona line. I also see it being a nice competitor to Intels C2D. Intel has an advantage with more fabs and more dedicated fabs to processors. However, it took them a bunch of ass whipping by AMDs push for a few years to get off their high horse and make some changes. I think Barcelone will do more than spar well with C2D. I believe the whoopin Intel came back on them with, while AMD rested on its laurels, should prove that.

Yeah, even though i am an intel boy, I hate all this AMD bashing. R600 and Barcelona... when they are released... the world will know AMD (And I'll sell my C2D for a barcelona as well).
