Late 80s through early 2000's. They also made eMachines which were some true junk.

Wow, who knew, I had a gateway system at one point, I think that's the one I put my foot through!?.

Is it me or is that picture slyly implying that windows 11 is a cow and Intel an old goat?!.

Plus I wouldn't use that as my dairy drive.

For anyone interested in the current ownership / state of Gateway:
In September 2020, Acer granted Gateway branding and licensing rights to Bmorn Technology, a Shenzhen based technology company to manufacture and sell Gateway branded laptops and tablets through Walmart. The new line of laptops is a simple rebadging of Acer's existing EVOO branded laptops.[15] The laptops are tuned in partnership with THX.
I wonder if these are also Acer-rebadges. Haven't had a Gateway since the Celeron M days, surprised the brand name is even kicking.

EDIT: Ars Technica Gateway laptop review from 2020.

Soooo...

Itel wasn't/isn't happy with it's server chip business, nor the high & middle-end consumer products, therefore they are now moooovin on up, er... down, into the bargain basement clustercrapola sh*tfest garbaggio that is wallyworld.....

AFAIC,*a*n*y*o*n*e* who buys tech stuff there (except for maybe the occasional USB cable or toy phone case) should be strung up by their toenails, tarred, feathered, and left to rot in the hot desert sun, after being shot repeatedly in their sensitive areas with very small caliber handguns.....hehehe :D

IMMEDIATELY, I'm reminded of Quiznos' marketing campaign with the poorly animated rodents.
That's some creepy looking cows.

Why is that picture so creepy?

Out of all the things a cow and it's calf could be doing, this is what they wanted.

eMachines weren't just junk, it was possibly the worst new computer you could buy.
They got so many bad reviews that they stopped sending review samples when I worked at PCW.

I bought an eMachine before I started building my own and it was junk. Had Windows ME for the OS so I had a really bad experience with that one.

On the plus side, it made you build your own.

I sure thought Gateway had been put out to pasture permanently. Why the hell did someone decide to raise the dead?

Because it sounds better than Shenzhen Bmorn Technology when you want to sell products outside of the PRC?
Acer still owns the brand name, they're just making some cash by licensing it, kind of like Philips, RCA and a bunch of other brands.
