Steve Jobs Gives All iPhone Owners $100 Back
Steve Jobs has received tons of emails from iPhone customers complaining about the $200 price cut on the iPhone only two months after it was released. After reading through every single one of the e-mails, he has now decided to offer every iPhone customer who purchased an iPhone from either Apple or AT&T a $100 store credit towards the purchase of any product at an Apple Retail Store or the Apple Online Store.

$100 is a good start to buying a $150 ipod nano.
you know they bitch about the price of the iphone (600 dollars) and he lowers it to satisfy the customers that could not afford an iphone now its 400 and the ones who have it bitch about the cut
i feel bad for him
and he still just gave out alot of money...if you think about it 100 dollars to each who spent 600 on the phone is alot of money. Also now losing 200 dollar profit on the iphones after price cut...
It really is a nice move though, most people who payed the higher price did so because they didnt really care, this $100 back is just money they already thought they spent so they probably wont think twice about spending it on stuff for their new phone or perhaps music/movies/tv shows for it.
I dont think Jobs has any reason to give back the money outside of saving face for his company, sure the average joe might not think to highly of apple if he didnt give it back but who cares...Apple is not about the average joe anyway, if they were we'd be buying cheap crap at a huge mark up...instead of genuinely nice and classy products...at a huge mark up ;)
Its a nice thing to do, but I wouldnt get to attached to the idea of this being adopted by anybody else in the position to do so.
still think they should have stuck symbian os on it though,
E6600 cost about 400$ after release. Now E6750 cost 200$. And not to mention E6750 ir lot faster.
Thats the same tech, same all, just price difference. To be honest, we are not buying product itself, we are paying for marketing price. It would cost 75$ to make iPod today, and 75$ to make iPod after half year. Retail price after half year will be as twice as cheap.
EDIT: This is sad, a Senior Moderator thanks someone for an offensive post, and then labels me as a "stupid apple hippie"... Maybe I care too much, but everytime I say something is offensive on these boards someone has to say something like, "Oh, well if your offended you must be that generalized person." Last time I said something about a post that I considered offensive concerning Valve President Gabe Newell, I got called fat in turn. I mean come on guys...
I missed the part where I labeled you a "stupid apple hippie"?
and why does every thread have to break down to petty squabling wtf happen to the tpu i used to post on
