Apple Sells 1 Millionth iPhone

Apple Inc. said Monday it sold its one millionth iPhone on Sunday, just 74 days after its introduction and ahead of its expectations to hit the mark by the end of September. The news came less than a week after CEO Steve Jobs apologized for cutting the price last week from $599 to $399, offering $100 credits to people who paid the higer price. Apple cut the price of its 8GB iPhone on Wednesday and said it would phase out the 4GB version, which sold for $499. The steep price cut annoyed many customers who purchased the phone early, though others saw it as the expected consequence of being an early adopter.

With such a good product, Apple more than deserves its recent success in the market.

the only real thing selling the apple iphone is the apple brand name, right now with Sony suffering a minor brand crisis (over the exploding batteries) Apple is the premier brand name which can practically sell anything with in reason, even if Apple had not done the price cut no doubt they would have still reached this total because down to the brrands current trendy and must have status which is why so many people rushed out paying the $600 price tag for a mobile/cellular, the funny thing is id bet the majority of the people who purchases the iphone at $600 would say a ps3 at $600 was too much to justify.

I disagree, I think the iPhone is a great piece of technology that is ahead of its time, which is why it has had such a huge success.

all the iphone is is a PDA phone, nothing special about that apart from it using apple os it is the apple brand that is driving its sales.

The iPhone was no technological breakthrough.... just the same as the iPod was nothing new either. The dumb ass public following the flashy commercials just like sheep!

The idea behind the Iphone is great but the thing that comes out is a Phone which can do many things and has a lot of good features but some of them seems to be sensless or just not thought to an end.
Its a bit like the Nokia E90. This Phone can basically the same things the iPhone can.

If the iphone wasn't branded Apple this would just be another pda smart phone but with the ipod Apple has created a sheep like following, if Sony, Nokia, Motorola or etc had produced the iphone it would just be another phone in a library of phones.

How many people have heard of the Nokia N95 and how many have heard of the iphone?

Thats what good marketing does for you. Well done to apple.

The Nokia N95 came out 4 months beforehand and still has more technology than the iphone.
