Intel will release budget dual core CPU's

While AMD lowers their cheapest dual core processor to $345 (when buying 1000) Intel makes sure they keep the cheapest dual core processor. Intels new budget dual core processor, the Pentium D 805, will run at 2.67GHz and have a 533Mhz FSB. It will still have 2×1MB cache though. Together with this new CPU intel will also introduce a budget chipset, the Intel 945GZ. This chipset will be limited to single channel memory, a 800Mhz FSB and will feature an Intel GMA950 onboard graphics controller.
The current 2.8GHz dual core processor ships for $241, it's very likely the new Pentium D 805 will be a lot cheaper. This should ensure that Intel keeps the cheapest dual core chips available.

no more durons.. ever... but dual core sempys? nah. not for quite a while. i.e. dual core is replacing single cores.

Funny that intel is struggling to keep the price down for the first time in years
