Actually, i read a review (greek mag), and what is new in this is the fact that the whole game takes place in a virtual 50, free to roam, square kilometers, of open space, in the middle of Africa.... It seems to be an rpg element and it is supported by 10 characters who, according to your way of dealing with them, will either help you or get on your back.... Also, it is supposed to have more than two alternate endings....:rockout:

I 'm looking forward to it!!!

Does this use the same engine as Crysis? Anyway I agree, there are waaay too many FPS games out there. I'll not buy any single player FPS unless there is a consensus that it is better than the Half-Life series.

This sequel is made by Ubisoft who owned the naming rights without an involvement from Crytek, the engine to be used in this game has been developed by Ubisoft and it is called the Dunia engine. Basically Ubisoft is using the Farcry name to launch a new games story with the aim of hooking in farcry original fans into buying and playing this game, since it is ubisoft i expect it will play very well.

Far Cry® 2, the next-generation first-person shooter from Ubisoft, will take you deep into the most beautiful but also most hostile environments in the world: Africa! More than just a visual and technological achievement, Far Cry® 2, the true sequel to the award-winning PC game, will provide you with an unprecedented gaming experience.

Caught between two rival factions in war-torn Africa, you are sent to take out "The Jackal", a mysterious character who has rekindled the conflict between the warlords, jeopardizing thousands of lives. In order to fulfil your mission you will have to play the factions against each other, identify and exploit their weaknesses, and neutralise their superior numbers and firepower with surprise, subversion, cunning and, of course, brute force.

OPEN WORLD
The extensive artistic research combined with the next-gen engine will allow you to explore over 50Km2 of seamlessly rendered African landscape. No game has ever provided such freedom of movement!

DUNIA ENGINE
The Dunia Engine was built specifically for Far Cry® 2 by the award-winning Ubisoft Montréal development team. It delivers the most realistic destructible environments, amazing special effects such as dynamic fire propagation and storm effects, real-time night-and-day cycle, dynamic music system, non-scripted enemy A.I. and so much more…

REAL-TIME IMMERSION
Real-time story telling, systemic auto-healing, minimal in-game interface are just few of the features that will make you feel the tension of being alone against barbarous warlords that threaten thousands of innocent lives.

WEAPONS OF CHOICE
Choose from a wide range of weapons to make your way to your primary target. Meet the fight head-on with your machine-gun, go berserk with your machete or make stealth kills as a Sniper. If you feel that the atmosphere is not warm enough, light up your flamethrower and let your enemies and everything around them feel the heat.

VEHICLES
Fly, Drive, Run, slide and hover over the huge open world with your glider, trucks, cars, boats

this all they features in case some1 dint know :)

and i find it shity that there ist any choppers in game :(

Will be fun to play this game at 10fps?? Hopefully this game is more scalable than crysis, so we can have a great looking game and yet have a steady 30fps(atleast).

This is made by Ubisoft, not Crytek. Ubisoft owns FarCry and EA owns Crytek.

DEFEATEST
I dont believe any of it, not until it'sin my hands. Especially the last pic with the zebra. How photoshoped is that? Especially one huge roaming area thing, many game makers have boasted this and it has never come to fruition.......

i dont see how the zebra pic looks photoshopped... everything looks very digital to me.

The HDR glare from the compass when the suns on the other side of teh compass - very game engine to me.

Zebra... just looks normal. Trees are mid level detail tbh, looks like the details drop over distance - again, this is normal for games and good for performance.

that leaves the sky/clouds... well that looks good. Not photoshopped from a RW pic, just good.

The pictures are 100% real, I saw a video of the developers previewing the game on the Game trailers website, and yes Zebra's were in it. At the end of the video the developer drives in a car and gets on a glider to show the scale of the map. He then said it was 1/50th of the actual size. Watch for yourself :)

Regular teaser trailer:

Developers playing and talking about the game in conference: (recommended)

From the looks of it the games emphasis is one big stage rather than many stages making up the game.

The first video, you don't get to see much. But the second one is 13mins of in game action. The quality is bad, yet it looks amazing :)

:shadedshu You're incredibly mistaken. Far Cry 2 will be as awesome and innovative as when the first Far Cry came out. Everything and I do mean EVERYTHING will be destructible and it'll look exceptionally real too. Branches can be shot and break off trees in a realistic way, grass can be set on fire and it'll burn just like in real life, shacks and other structures can be riddled with bullets and even blown up...hell, even if you're wounded you'll see how you have to help yourself by removing shrapnel from your body etc. No health packs floating around in this game, that's for damn sure. In short, it's going to be an ultra-realistic experience and a game well worth buying.
