Another Marriage Falls Victim to World of Warcraft

World of Warcraft is not known as the most friendly game with the real world. With over 10 million subscribers worldwide, World of Warcraft is the bane of gamers everywhere who want to do something out in the real world. Case in point: a former female Blizzard employee gave her husband a copy of World of Warcraft in Christmas 2004. World of Warcraft basically wrecked the man.
He would get home from work at 6:00, start playing at 6:30, and he'd play until three a.m. Weekends were worse - it was from morning straight through until the middle of the night. It took away all of our time that we spent together. I ceased to exist in his life.
Six years of marriage went down the drain, things like personal hygiene, bills, and even romance took second-stage to his World of Warcraft addiction. The poor woman eventually filed for divorce, citing World of Warcraft as the reason. Since the divorce, the woman cut back on the time she spent playing WoW. The man, however, still plays "religiously".

lol how can you sue blizzard or have the government shut it down???...it is a game just like the xbox 360 games or any other games, it is up to the user to play the game or not, it is their decision, its not like blizzard forces people to play their game its not their fault someone wants to play the game that much that they forget about things going on around them....they did make the game for people to play didn't they??....that was the stupidest thing i heard in a while :banghead:

i play wow and i like it a lot its a cool game but as i said it is a "game" unless you have no job and no school then you are going to get sucked in playing all day lol its all about self control

Well it was her fault. Why did she give him the game in the first place lol.

should we really blame the game if out of 10 millions there are a few "extreme" people who don't care about anything in the world except their level? Also, she is the one who got him the game, she expected him to play the game.

This doesn't surprise me in the least bit though! When I first got up to college my freshman year my random roommates all played wow like this. I ended up playing for a little while, but just couldn't get into it the same way as they did. They had some really nice items and gear and guilds, and it's very very easy to see how you can become addicted to this game.

CrAsHnBuRnXpI have never played WoW up until abotu two weeks ago. I downloaded the 10-day trial. Hate the game. I dont see how its a gamers version of crack.
I got bored on the trial too. It was fun at first but then everything got repetitive really fast.

How on Earth can you spend that much time on anything? It would literally bore me to death. When BF2 first came out I was really pulled in a could spend a few nights a week playing. If my girlfriend came in I would be annoyed as I was in the middle of a battle etc. But that passed and and I got my priorities right; when she comes into the room now and want to spend some time I turn the game off without hesitation. Ok, so it's another girlfriend but it wasn't BF2's fault that we broke up, really  Of course she respects my space and lets me play too, it's all about balance folks.

That aside I don't get the appeal of WoW; tried it a few times but it never appealed. Granted I never did it online, but still. And after hearing these kind of stories I certainly have no intention of going there, ever :)

Uhh... anyone whose marriage broke up because of a damn video game probably had problems before the video game. My spouse and I have played video games for years together without problems. To me, this is just someone not taking responsibility for their marriage falling apart...
